Howdy

I'm back. I joined DU in 2003, but stopped posting a few years later when I started my own blog. Now I'm back, with a new name.

I'm retired so I've been able to think a lot about some subjects that interest me: race relations, unions, capitalism, the role of government, etc. Though I consider myself a liberal and a socialist, I read non-liberal writers, including Andrew Sullivan and Ross Douthat, not because I agree with them, but because I'm certain liberals don't have all the answers (I wish we did). Truth should trump ideology.

Hello,I'm new here and can't seem to find what I was looking for.lol.My mom is 86 yrs old and I found out on Xmas eve that she has Cancer in both lungs and also in her liver. Now my mom is real slow ,she can't read or write, dont understand much, and is very afraid of hospital's,Drs,nurses, police, and won't let them take blood, giver her shots.Well the Dr said he was gonna tell her,and I said No!!! She will get scared to death leave her alone as she lost her only son 2 yrs ago, they tried to put a mask on her face and she started crying and took it off,The Dr got mad at me and said then take her home and call hospice,I said I will and I'll call hospice when I feel I need to cross that bridge. They can't give her Chemo or Radiation because of her weight and age,and they can't operate. She does have some pain as she will ask me for a pain pill like evry other day,she is wetting herself a lot,but she don't look to me like she is at deaths door or has 1 foot in the ground! Why would they say well take her her, nothing we can do for her? Do they think she is gonna die soon? Im sorry, thank you for any answers.Have a great day everyone

DU has several health-related smaller forums/groups which might be a better place to post this--also a bereavement group that I think some don't realize is available.

Two groups you might consider:
Cancer Support: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1146
Chronic Health Conditions DIscussion and Support: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1147

Welcome to DU and I hope you find what you need
