World Gun Sovereigns will continue to seek to paralyze U.N. arms control treaties

As with so much else that Republican Right wingers and Libertarians do, the truth or falsehood of any U.N. treaty is not the point of their activity on this subject. The point of their NRA corporate personhood activities on behalf of INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE ARMS MARKETS, and hence, PRIVATE WAR PROFITEERING is much more likely the result of things like Mali's gold resources than it is the result of Republican respect for human rights and freedom at home and abroad.

For at least the last two years, far right groups have opposed an imaginary treaty which, in the words of the John Birch Society, would “cede control of private Americans’ small arms ownership and use to the United Nations.” This treaty does not exist. Snopes described reports of such a treaty as “scarelore.” ThinkProgress debunked Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) attempt to fundraise off this imaginary treaty more than a year ago. PolitiFact rejected claims that any UN treaty will limit Second Amendment rights as recently as last week.

I think anyone who wants to change how the U.S. came to make war on an INNOCENT nation like Iraq, should consider the possibility of how that whole false scenario can be repeated with the help of legislation like S. 2205 The Second Amendment Sovereignty Act of 2012, which remains in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,

2. Gotta get people to think beyond the point of their own guns and much MORE about the world.

For example, I have real empathy for those who oppose drone programs, but I can't pretend that whatever happens in these completely chaotic, no holds barred, PRIVATE gun markets funded by the billions and billions and billions in gun profits is acceptable.

I honestly don't WANT to hold this position, but I cannot pretend that it's all okay no matter what happens as long as our government isn't involved.

Anti-drone positions would be more credible if they weren't also (probably) anti-U.N. reform positions and pro-assault weapons trafficking.
