How can this gunfire be justified?

Three teens steal a couple of valuable puppies. The homeowner comes out and starts firing recklessly in the direction that they fled, in a residential neighborhood. She's reportedly not facing any charges. Bullets could have easily entered nearby homes and killed someone.

Crazy!!!

WEST PARK, Fla. (KABC) -- A dognapping turned into a Wild-West shootout in a Florida neighborhood.

Surveillance video shows three teens take a pair of pricey puppies at gunpoint from a woman who breeds exotic dogs.

But the woman grabs her own gun and unleashes a barrage of bullets as they exchanged gunfire.

She said one bullet just missed her head as she ducked behind her own car for cover.

Remarkably there were no reported injuries.

Isn't that equally or more of a danger to everyone? Yes she should be careful but so should the criminals.
If I'm on a jury, she is innocent and they get hard time.

Of course the criminals should have the book thrown at them.

But she was firing at them as they were fleeing. It was downright careless. At the very least, she should be prohibited from owning firearms for 5 or 10 years, if not life.

She was shooting wildly in the air, not even aiming- just spraying her own neighborhood with bullets.

opened fire?

Yeah, the pups were valuable but more valuable than even a criminal's life? Property is property, retreating is retreating and no further danger is no further danger.

I'd be perfectly happy to leave the criminals alone and be protected from the 'law abiding gun owner'.

Them stealing dogs, dogs being that expensive, her shooting wildly at them when they are running away and them shooting back at her.
But that's Florida for you, just fucking stupid.
