I guess Clarence has conveniently forgotten that a lot of the founders were enslavers who owned people like him as their property and wouldn't even have regarded him as a U.S. citizen, much less as their intellectual or social equal.

It's lucky for him that his ancestors were awarded the rights of citizenship via actual constitutional amendments, so he doesn't have to worry that they'll be snatched away from him by a rogue SCOTUS decision. Lucky, and also convenient. He can just keep merrily snatching away other people's rights without having to worry about his. The only thing that's possibly at risk for him is his marriage, and congress is in the process of fixing that.

It's a great time to be Clarence Thomas.
