Contact Harry Reid to get a spine

Last edited Wed Mar 20, 2013, 12:43 PM - Edit history (2)

Michael Moore tonite is asking the millions of us who believe that gun violence can be reduced to call or email Harry Reid to STAND UP and put the assault weapons ban back into the gun bill. We Dems elected Reid and all of them; why are they backing down now when Feinstein and so many have fought so hard to pass reasonable gun bills. It is time; ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

There'll most likely be a vote on the ban via an amendment to the bill, see article on link below Tx4obama Mar 2013 #3

Feinstein on assault weapons ban: 'I’m not going to lay down and play dead'

(CNN) – Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Tuesday she’s not going to stop fighting to get a vote on her proposed ban on semi-automatic firearms modeled after military assault weapons, hours after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that the measure has no chance of passing the chamber.

“This is very important to me. And I’m not going to lay down and play dead,” Feinstein, D-California, said on CNN’s “The Situation Room.”

Reid, D-Nevada, told reporters he won't keep the proposed ban in gun legislation heading to the full Senate for consideration because including it would guarantee the measure would be blocked by a Republican filibuster. But he said he wants to ensure a vote on the ban will still take place.

The ban has been fiercely opposed by the National Rifle Association, Republicans and some Democrats would get fewer than 40 votes, Reid said, far below the threshold needed to defeat a filibuster or pass the Senate.

Instead, Feinstein could propose the ban as an amendment to the gun legislation on the Senate floor in order to get a vote on it, Reid said.

Feinstein should keep on bringing it up, as long as it takes. If we get more of our people in 2014, I'm sure it'll pass. In the meantime, the Koch brothers just bought up almost everything in media to sway the voters the other way - this is going to be a hard and nasty fight. Fighting the big money always is.

Any one who thinks otherwise might check his other prominent "opinions" historical data. Yea some mediocre stuff, but mostly blow hard.

Anything from him is just a passing glance for me.

opposing the AWB and mag limit. He won't add it to the overall package and risk the wrath of Nevadans.
He also will most likely vote against it, something his constituents want him to do.

Don't forget that Nevada is a very pro 2A state.

The AWB is DOA. The sooner people realize this, the sooner we can pass some good laws.

It is never a waste of time to protest the proliferation of military type assault weapons among the populace.

in not passing the AWB.

Sen Reid knows that an AWB
Would never pass the House
Could very well jeopardize the re-election of Democratic Senators in red states leading to the loss of the Senate to the Republicans in 2014
Would probably cost him HIS seat
Probably won't hold up in court
Lacks enough DEMOCRATIC votes in the Senate for it to pass.
