Cardinal Raymond Burke: ‘Feminized’ church and altar girls caused priest shortage-interfaith post

David Gibson
(RNS) Cardinal Raymond Burke, a senior American churchman in Rome who has been one of the most outspoken critics of Pope Francis’ push for reform, is roiling the waters yet again, this time arguing that the Catholic Church has become too “feminized.”

Burke, who was recently demoted from the Vatican’s highest court to a ceremonial philanthropic post, pointed to the introduction of altar girls for why fewer men are joining the priesthood.

Someone clearly hates women.

Burke is a critic of Pope Francis' moves to soften the church's attitudes to homosexual people.[75] In an interview in October 2014, Burke referred to gay relationships as "profoundly disordered and harmful",[76] also suggesting that parents should not allow their children to have contact with sexually active gay people and should discourage them from attending family gatherings such as celebrations at Christmas

They sent him to the Knights of Malta, who are headquartered in Rome. He has a sinecure with a nice salary and no real duties.

If it were me, I would have named him Apostolic Nuncio to Lesotho or Pyongyang or Nuuk with orders to stay in his post.
