I can understand how badly many DUers want Elizabeth to run for the presidency.

She would be, in my opinion, the perfect candidate, but I do not believe she will run. However all the valiant efforts of her supporters reminded me of a rhyme I learned as a child.

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride:
If turnips were watches, I'd wear one by my side,:
If, If's and And's were pots and pans, there would be no need for tinkers.:

I think we will all end up voting for Hilary as the alternative would be one of the characters from the 2016 Shit Show of Candidates.

1. You thought this was an appropriate post for the group?

Would you have gone into the HRC group and posted it with the names reversed? I suspect if you did you'd be quickly banned.

(From the group, obviously, not the site.)

4. Lot of entitled-sounding boldness today, seems to me.

7. Well, I'll make the pledge...

I pledge to vote for the candidate in each race who I feel best embodies Democratic Party principles, and either pledges to do so (for those who have not already established a record) or whose voting history shows that they actually do support those principles (for those who have already served in office).

The candidate who best supports raising the American people out of poverty, creating living wages, strengthening the safety net for those temporarily or permanently unable to work, whether through disability, discrimination, or simple inability to get hired on to jobs they are trained for and for which they have applied. The candidate who places human rights above corporate rights, who believes that police should de-escalate rather than escalate, that they are truly meant to protect and serve the people, including protestors, rather than to seek excuses to arrest and assault them and prevent them from protesting. The candidate who realizes that minorities in America still face large struggles to get anywhere near equality and that it is the government's role to protect them and support them in achieving equality, not to place obstacles in their way. The candidate who understands the demand drives real, sustainable economic growth, and that less inequality of wealth distribution increases demand. The candidate who understands that climate change is real and must be dealt with proactively to avoid driving billions around the globe into starvation and poverty. The candidate who seeks peace and stability, rather than always looking for wars to jump into, and understands that America is strongest when it acts in accord with the other countries of the world, rather than trying to always take control.

2. You came specifically to the Elizabeth Warren group to post this?

Really?

3. Today's DU theme, boys and girls, seems to be that hey, we will all be voting for Hillary!

As you say, if wishes were horses, then beggars would ride. I consider Hillary - her policies like the TPP, for instance - is one of the aforementioned characters from the 2016 Shit Show of Candidates. Her policies, not her personally, i don't much care about candidates personally.

5. Then you should run right along to the Hillary Clinton group and post just that

This group is for supporters of Elizabeth Warren. Please delete your OP.

6. Odd that you posted that in this forum.

FTR, no, I will not end up voting for Hillary Clinton.

8. Oddly enough, I'm not one of them

For the time being, we'll be offered only corporatists in the primaries. We should know this by now, that candidates are pre screened and preselected on the basis of their willingness to play ball with the 1%. It was that way before and during the early part of the Depression, too, when they elected a rather mushy member of their own class in the hope he wouldn't rock the boat and cost them too much money. That plutocrat was FDR.

While we all dream of a progressive president and enough of a progressive Congress to overturn Reaganism and get this country back to a more egalitarian society and off the path to aristocracy lording it over serfs, a progressive president would be a disaster in this political climate, stymied even worse than Obama has been because s/he would severely threaten the cash flow, which remains positive for the time being.

I would rather see Warren as Comptroller of the Currency, a little known but immensely powerful position in which she could rein in the worst of the banksters. A former Republican and banker in good standing, she knows where enough of the bodies are buried to do a great deal of damage to the crooks in the banks.

As far as the presidency, I'll vote for whomever the Democrats decide to allow us to vote for and hope that person turns into as big a traitor to his/her class as FDR was if the next crash happens during his/her term(s).

We know the next crash is coming, too. They did nothing after the last one. The 1% didn't allow it. That is the message Warren is giving us and we'd do well to heed it.

10. There are two announced candidates at this point.

You didn't mention either one.

I didn't know, either, until this morning.

12. Wow, the replies to my post says a lot about the mindset of the group.

I did not post it to criticize those who want her to run. I used a poem that I was taught in my youth that wishing does not necessarily make things happen. Obviously a little to subtle for the group.

I would love Elizabeth to be the democratic candidate, I would donate more to her than I have ever done for any candidate, including Obama. However, with all the combined considerable efforts of those groups who want her to run, she keeps insisting that it is not going to happen. A child's poem about the futility of wishing is a little too much for some of you. If she does not run, I hope you will be able to deal with your loss in a more mature manner.

14. Subtle? I thought it was condescending.

But hey, your OP was not the first one today that basically said, boiled down, tough shit, you will vote for Hillary.
Just the first OP in this group.

Mature manner - well, I do not think that Warren supporters will just automatically turn to Hillary. Also, no exploding heads or any of the other wishful thinking that is expressed elsewhere. I am assuming the only "mature" response you were looking for was okay, yeah, votes for Hillary. To me, Hillary is not really a Democrat. So my vote will take a lot more thought.

17. We have already dealt with the fact that she said she isn't going to run.

We hope we can change her mind.

Your condescending post in a group specifically for Warren supporters, supporters not just for her hoped-for candidacy but for EW in general, was not mature. Ironic, your using a child's poem & then calling the very tempered posts about your lack of courtesy "immature" is telling.

Autumn is a host of this group, as am I. So we are both now asking you to kindly delete your inappropriate OP. We don't want to have to ban you from the EWG. You could post it in the GD forum. It would be greatly appreciated by many Hillary lovers there.

16. But our money and votes are okay, right?

If this is a comment on Warren's suitability based on her age - you may be in the wrong group. Lot of that going around these days.
And your ageist objection is noted.
