This version (2010 restoration) includes over 20 minutes of lost footage and provides an edit closer to it's original version.
The clarity of the imagery is stunning regardless of how many times you might have seen it.

Roger Eberts excellent review of this version-

It really blew my mind. So very beautifully creepy!

Have you seen the 2000 film, "Shadow of the Vampire"? It's about the making of "Nosferatu", and it's wonderfully beautiful and creepy in its own right.

I can't remember much about it, except that I liked it. I've seen so many movies, I can't keep them all straight in my mind.

Regardless, it's Weimar-era German cinema and worth watching.

But when I saw the film, I didn't see even a hint of the more well-known aspects of expressionism, i.e. twisted, distorted sets that are intended to mirror the twisted consciousness or subconciousness of the protagonist or villain. Highly stylized poses and gestures. Chiaroscuro lighting techniques, etc.

It was vastly different, IMO, from The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari.
