I didn't get that much of a John Wayne vibe from Kurt Russell. I wasn't really looking for it, because I'd forgotten you mentioned it.

As for the movie. I was pretty disappointed. Since Tarantino went to the trouble of shooting in Panavision, I expected him to make better use of it. It was so set bound it could have been a stage play. The first 40 minutes was in the coach and the other TWO HOURS was in Minnie's. Yes, there was the occasional exterior shot.

This was not QT's best. I like most of his movies. I love Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. Kill Bill was good, but I think it would have been better as one tight film instead of split into Vol 1 and 2.
