Oliver Stone.....

.....what has happened to him, and forgive me, I didn't know where to put this. I am a big fan of his movies, but what is his thing with Russia and the Ukraine. He is even so much as backing Trump on Russia. Granted we should be allies, as we always were. He is not even concerned about anything else Trump is doing. I ask this because he is one of my favorite filmmakers and he is making it harder for me to watch his films. He says he is not an activist filmmaker, but what has happened to him? Criticized Obama left and right, supported Stein and is still anti Hillary.

I dont follow his political stuff but would be surprised if he's really supportive of Trump's dangerous behavior - the media as enemy and all that crap.
Entertainers I like for one reason only, what they put on screen or in music. If they happen to fall in line with my personal beliefs great, if not we can still be friends, I have plenty of conservative even liberal friends whom I disagree with, it's ok.

Yes, I enjoy it when stars get out for their causes and it makes me love them more ; Clooney,Bruce, Meryl....
but it sure isnt a deal breaker.

Stone is putting himself out there by joining the conversation so yes, we can criticize his thoughts on that

But this is a guy who changed war movies with Platoon and Born on the Fourth of July!!
Really brought the conspiracy theorist out in all of us with JFK
His new history of America show - cant remember name- that Ive caught snippets of, doesnt pull any punches either.

So he's not a total liberal, Platoon is still freaking great! and I will be surprised if hes a big Trump supporter a year from now some people just take more timeto come around

I think he is great director as well. He doesn't criticize Trump because he likes his stance on Russia, he will not criticize Putin, but Putin is not Gorbachev. He feels Trump will not get us in a war. He has and has offered no opinion on Healthcare, the Muslim ban etc. It's almost like those issues that will directly affect Americans he does not care about. For the man that criticized the 1 percent in Wall Street, he does not say anything about the tax cuts for the rich. Just war and we need to be nice to Putin, oh and we created a coup in the Ukraine.

I have been having issues with separating the man from the art with alot of my heroes, except Eastwood, I still look forward to what he puts out. American Sniper was propaganda in my eyes, but I liked it for what it was.

look at all negativity Bradley Cooper got when conservATIVE fans of the movie saw him supporting democrats. It just doesnt matter to me
I like Eastwood a lot too, even though he takes a hard right stance at times.

I will admit that I would have thought Stone might be a little more outspoken on some subjects repping the left

He lost me with that as well, but I took comfort in the fact that he pissed the Christian Right off with Million Dollar Baby, and pissed off Pro War conservatives with Flags Of Our Fathers and especially Letters From Iwo Jima, how dare he tell the WW2 story from the point of view of the enemy, and Flags was very anti war.
