It was so engrossing. I thought the cast did a wonderful job...
I'd heard, of course, just what a downer of a movie it was, and for me, it really wasn't as awful as I'd thought it was going to be. Maybe I was just prepared to see the brutality. I don't know.
One thing I did notice was the continuing undercurrent of fear and stress all throughout. I felt scared for the slaves nearly the whole time.
I did know he would get his freedom back, but I was extremely curious as to just how. It was well done, and very satisfying.
Go see it!

(152,315 posts)It is a terrific film, pretty dark in places, though not overly much.
I'd rent it and watch it at home so that you can pause and take a break if you need to.
The cast is stellar!
