Had a doctor's visit on Friday.

Got my blood work done and it was pretty good. My A1c is 7.4 and I'm a little anaemic, so I need to work on these things a bit, but my doctor did noticed all the hard work I've been doing to get things under control. Testing 6-8 times a day, getting 3-7 shots, and exercising between 45 mins to an hour and a half 4-5 times a week. I've also cut out a lot of carbs and that helped drop my A1c down from over 13 to where it is now.

Wish me luck on getting my next round of blood tests! (Yes, they're doing another one.)

around 13 once and got it down to a little under 8, but it's sneaking back up again.

This disease is hard work.

17.3. Back in my late teens when I wanted to be like everyone else so I wasn't testing like I should have been. Now that I'm in my late 20's, it's coming down. A 7.5 is around 180 in a regular blood sugar reading, so I'm getting close!

Good luck on keeping yours in control!

You can ask them. Or you can probably just google it. So long as its below an 8 it's ok (for a diabetic), and anything thats between 5-6.5 is great! My doctor says that most diabetics do well between 6-7 on the a1C scale. I'll search for some more results later and try to figure out the equation that turns A1C into blood sugar readings.ï

I already knew what my blood sugar was around, but could never figure out the exact number. I even searched for it too, for about 45 mins. But thank you for finding it!

I was extremely surprised that it was that low. I'm taking 30 units of Lantus at night, but was only eating one meal per day with an occasional snack for about a month due to my financial situation. However, my latest round of tests showed that I was anemic. That is the latest problem that has cropped up since I've also had other vitamin deficiencies and hormone related issues in the past couple of years.

I'm on the verge of being homeless soon and although I've been going to a clinic it is beginning to seem pointless if I end up on the streets or in a homeless shelter. I'm surviving off the generosity of a friend, but I can't remain where I'm located for much longer since his sons will be returning from college. I'm meeting with a faith mission tomorrow, however I was told that they don't have any transitional housing. Trying to obtain help from social services in Texas and find a job that would at least take care of the basics is very discouraging and I've felt very expendable and useless lately--I broke down into tears three times yesterday. I used to have what was considered a "good" job and made my employers millions of dollars, but now I'm either over-qualified for most positions or a generation behind on my computer technical skills.

My adult life was spent in a sedentary office environment and I'm exhausted after a few minutes of physical exertion, but I when I asked about getting rated for SS disability I was told by the clinic doctor that they don't provide any support disability filings. I went to the primary indigent care provider in mid-March and they were not taking in any new patients until April due to the changes in the health care law. If I do get lucky and get into that system then I'm going to need hematological, endocrinological and podiatry specialists. It would be tough to work a job that would require me to be on my feet throughout the shift since I've had cracked callouses on my feet for the past couple of months. At this point it is beginning to look like I will be a victim of the Great Recession.
