Sources: NBA to likely investigate Derek Fisher-Matt Barnes confrontation

New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher and Memphis Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes had a physical confrontation on Saturday night in Los Angeles, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Fisher had traveled to California on Saturday to visit his children and was visiting the house that Barnes shared with his estranged wife, Gloria Govan, the former star of the "Basketball Wives LA" reality show, sources said.

Barnes, who had concluded Grizzlies training camp in Santa Barbara, arrived at the house and a physical confrontation ensued on Saturday night, sources said. Barnes has known for "over a month" that Fisher is engaged in a relationship with his estranged wife, a source close to him told Yahoo Sports.

Barnes, 35, told friends that two people at the house – including a relative of his estranged wife – interceded on Fisher's behalf, sources told Yahoo Sports.

it's none of his business who she sees, and if he doesn't like it, he can jolly well expedite their divorce.

New York Post: (Barnes) was arrested...in 2010 on suspicion of felony domestic violence against Govan, who was his fiancée at the time. She denied he had abused her during a fight at their home, and the charge was later dropped.

He was also arrested...in 2012...for allegedly threatening a California cop who recognized him for an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license.

Earlier this year, the NBA fined Barnes $50,000 for directing “inappropriate language at a fan” who was seated courtside during a May 1 playoff game — and who turned out to be the mom of Houston guard James Harden...(he) later apologized...Barnes was also fined $25,000 in January for kicking water and cursing at a fan in Washington. Later that month, he was fined another $25,000 for swearing at Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver...

According to TMZ, Barnes drove 95 miles to confront Fisher, and afterwards tweeted a complaint about him getting the police involved (no arrests were made) -- which qualifies Matt Barnes for a place on my Next Aaron Hernandez Award list.
