Why Bernie Sanders Is Winning the Hearts and Minds of America

http://www.commondreams.org/views/2016/01/28/why-bernie-sanders-winning-hearts-and-minds-america

If you’re lucky, once in your lifetime, maybe twice if you’re really lucky, you’ll get an opportunity to support a presidential candidate who speaks to your values on a very deep personal level. For me, that chance came the day Bernie Sanders announced his presidential campaign. My reason for supporting Bernie Sanders for president can be summed up in one word: authenticity.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is the real deal and people feel it in their guts. We know he’s on our side. A profile in political courage and integrity, Bernie Sanders is a patriot who has been fighting for economic and social justice all his life. Finally, we have a candidate who is not only willing, but eager, to take on Wall Street, the media elites and the corrupt political establishment. This is why I joined the political revolution on Day 1 and why millions of Americans from all political stripes are Feeling the Bern.

In a remarkable November speech at Georgetown University, Bernie Sanders passionately articulated the rationale for his candidacy by saying, “We need to develop a political movement which, once again, is prepared to take on and defeat a ruling class whose greed is destroying our nation." I know of 2 candidates who were/are such people; RFK and Bernie.
JFK came close, but Bobby was the more progressive.

supporters so passionately involved with this primary. This might come across as messianic to Hillary supporters, but every Bernie supporter that I know does not expect for things to change overnight with Bernie being elected President. I suspect that many HRC supporters that make claims about Bernie supporters expecting Bernie to "wave his magic wand" (my God how I loathe how that phrase gets used against the left in this country) are being mostly disingenuous.

In short, there is a reason that Bloomberg says he'll run for President if Bernie wins the nomination. That is a HUGE undertaking. He clearly believes that HIS interests are well-served with Hillary as President, but they are NOT well-served with Bernie as President. We haven't seen the billionaires threatening to run independent runs during other Democratic primaries for a reason. It's a huge tell. Bernie WILL upset the status quo. He's clearly not part of the Establishment, and Hillary clearly is part of the Establishment. Bloomberg kind of revealed that to anyone who was paying attention and can think this through a little bit.

The Executive Office has a lot of power. Clearly, Bloomberg realizes this and is threatened by the power Bernie would have as President. I hope that enough Democratic primary voters realize this. Now is the time to shape the Democratic Party of the future.

Not to Wall St billionaires. Takes a lot of little donations to make a big one. Those billionaires are fueled by the assistance of every dollar in Wall St. Each one assuring in its contributors name that nothing ever gets better.
