The best idea I had today

So this is one big thing I learned being a caucus captain in Nebraska today: Bring a clip board. Fortunately, I had brought one, simply because I had a lot of paperwork to juggle. Our caucus was held in a school cafeteria with many tables, and the turnout was overwhelming, so it became virtually standing-room-only. That is when I realized the clipboard could be put to good use. I moved toward the entrance and began greeting everyone I could find who had that "what the hell do I do now?" look on their face. "Did you just get here?" I would say, then I would offer them the use of my clip board and pen to fill out the top of their caucus preference card. I now had a captive and appreciative audience for at least a minute. Chatting people up became almost too easy.

This is a strategy that could be employed in any caucus where table space is limited. I hope my experience helps others do well in their own caucuses. How did we do? Our caucus went 59% for Bernie, 41% for Clinton. It was a good day.

Did 5 years active, was honorably discharged and still obligated to be available for 3 more years. I could have served as an active reservist (weekend drills, summer for 2 weeks) but didn't intend on making the military a career anyway. I believe now the total commitment is 12 years.
