Mr. Sanders got the rest of the Democratic base to listen to words he has been repeating for decades, not so much because his legislation has been in constant step with the nations, but rather because much of the nation has come around to the things he has been legislating.
Bernie has been talking about income inequality since 1981, Mr. Welch said. And now that is a message whose time has come.

(9,933 posts)He never gets anything done! He needs to be vetted! He lacks experience! I read it right here on DU.

(39,451 posts)Over one 12-year stretch in the House, he passed more amendments by roll call vote than any other member of Congress. In the Senate, he secured money for dairy farmers and community health centers, blocked banks from hiring foreign workers and reined in the Federal Reserve, all through measures attached to larger bills.

(22,666 posts)...but "getting things done" for WHO?
No doubt Sanders would be working primarily for the poor and middle class, not just for Wall St., big corporations, and other wealthy donors.
If you're gonna get technical!

(5,364 posts)We've seen all too clearly the result of "doing a deal" just for the sake of doing a deal: A foundering working class and a further enriched comfortable class. Screw that.

Sorry.... couldn't resist.
The objective always after a preposition.
I know. No one cares. I remember on the TV show "The X Files" they were always saying "For who? To who? From who?" Then in one of the films, Scully blurts out "For whom?" I thought "Oooo... they got better writers for the film!"

(31 posts)Case in point: Paul Krugman. Nobel Prize winner, is brilliant when discussing macro economics. Unfortunately he bought into the absurd "Berniebros" misandry and then, after about 85-90% of his blog readers disagreed with him, he became an 8th grade bully daring them to prove him wrong. It was sad to see a great thinker lose his balance and integrity to help Wall Street's candidate. His blog is called "Conscience of a Liberal."
Maureen Dowd, who has repeatedly shown an almost viscereal dislike of Hillary and Bill, has, during the primaries, confined her criticism, such as it is, to issues in feminism. Very out of character for her.
Other columnists have been less obvious and Kristoff, typically, has done some soul searching on the issue.
The public editor wrote a lengthy feminist piece when Hillary was accused of being ineffective when speaking loudly. In the same column, the public editor allowed someone to describe Bernie as "loud and agessive" without note. "Loud and aggressive" is one of many examples of misandry thrown out regularly against Bernie in the NYT.
