Thousands of people filled a Vancouver high school gym Sunday, while thousands of others crowded outside to get a peek of presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Hundreds started lining up outside Hudson's Bay High School Saturday night for the speech which began just before 1:45 p.m.
Only about 5,500 people fit inside the gym for the official speech -- Sanders greeted thousands of other supporters outside the high school.
(snip)
"All I can say is WHOA!" Sanders said. "One of the reasons this campaign has surprised people is that we're doing something extremely unusual in American politics. We're telling the truth."

Not sure how well you can see it but the line snakes across the bridges over the river.

(50,130 posts)....and thousands more outside. People waited all night to get in.
And Seattle is reportedly even more wild.
Our DU member Trajan was in the overflow at Vancouver.

(812 posts)First outdoors, then inside (where we were) for about 8-9 mins. Then the main speech, for maybe 20 mins?
So unbelievably generous for him to do that. I figured that if you didn't get into the main hall (gym in this case), you'd only get to hear him on the speakers.
And he's doing 3 events today, and the cities aren't really that close to each other.
What a beast!

(814 posts)guess I should have camped out in my van. Bernie cares about and respects the people who support him, cannot even imagine how he keeps up with the insane schedule. I saw him in Portland and was inside for that , but there were equally as many outside.
Gonna be a long day for him, he's a pistol.

(1,587 posts)Tears of joy fill my eyes, my heart swells, and I am so thankful to Bernie, Jane and all of his team who work so hard to get the word out. All of those people, who stand in line for hours (overnight!) to see and hear him. To see how happy they look to get even close to the action. His excitement and obvious pleasure at being there, and the truth he insists on telling.
It makes me so happy I could just burst.
Contrast that to Hillary's events.
Feel that bern, people!
