Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI live in Washington State and tomorrow I go to caucus for Bernie even tho I walk with 2 canes
I'm wondering if they'll have handicap accommodations?
I'm really excited about tomorrow. Been waiting to vote for someone like Bernie a LONG time
in my life.

(2 posts)So the caucus is today, and I am out of town.
I have always voted in the primary election (coming up in May,) but I do not understand exactly what a caucus is, and how I might make the most of it to help Bernie get elected. I have never felt so strongly for a candidate before than I do for Bernie. and I really want to do anything I possibly can to help.
Do I have to drive back into town today, or is there a way I can help from about 2 hours north?
Thanks,
Zobeewa

(2,543 posts)One of our precinct workers has put out an appeal on the neighborhood blog for volunteers who know ASL. Otherwise hearing impaired voters will be able to read along from a printed script.
I wish I knew ASL so I could help out, but nevertheless I will be at my precinct to make damn sure my vote is counted.
Bless you BigBearJohn

(45,806 posts)The grumpy people all over this country who just don't "FEEL LIKE VOTING" drive me crazy. With all that is going on, from the house members & senators determined to do NOTHING for the American people to replacing Scalia, people who don't vote THIS YEAR deserve what they get/ The big problem with that is that we all have to suffer because of the few who just don't care!

(172 posts)I'll be out there with you! Washington is going to make history and you will be a part of this! Us Berner's will all be helping each other so don't think that you will be alone. We will support you as you come to support Bernie. I think my husband and I will bring our camp chairs for people who need to sit can just in case there is a long line. Glad to have you on our side BigBearJohn!

(24,411 posts)but I know that people will most likely come out in droves for Bernie.
Be prepared for a long process. It may not be a long process, but you never know with all of the shenanigans happening this year.
Bring a bottle or two of water. Some granola bars. A book to read. Make sure your phone is charged.
Do you plan on being a delegate? We did delegate selection at the end of our caucus. Make sure that you get in on this, if you want to do it. I strongly encourage you to do so. Bernie needs very strong, dedicated delegates to show up for him at the next stage. It's really important.
If you do sign up to be a delegate, fill out the proper paperwork. They should have a sheet with all of your names. Please take a picture of that sheet. Others are reporting that that they show up to the convention to serve as a delegate, and there is no record of them signing up. Take that picture.
Best to you. Have fun!!! You're making history!

(172 posts)I thought we would bring some folding chairs, but I didn't think of water. So now, I will make sure to have a cooler of cold water to hand out just in case. I don't know how big it will be where I am tomorrow but I would rather be prepared to help those coming out to vote to be able to stay if the wait is long then have to leave. We should learn from Arizona and all the other messes we've seen and prepare not just for ourselves but for others. That is basically Bernie's message, if you hurt, I hurt. So let's work together to lift each other up.

(39,451 posts)violated ADA laws. There were no accommodations for people that couldn't stand for long periods of time.
Hopefully lawmakers in Washington are better than the lawmakers in Az.... nobody can be that bad.
Just prepare for lines.
Let us know how it went and good luck tomorrow! Feel the Birdie!
