Dem poster from another board just reported that his girlfriend, who has long-term Dem registration and been a regular voter, was missing from registration when she tried to vote early. There was simply no record of her!

She was able to re-register and vote, but the lines were long!

2. I voted in the run-off elections just last month, it'd be very curious if I'm not.

WI has open primaries and so most people don't register with any affiliation. Certainly some do. But, well, this is an internet story told about a poster who has a friend, etc.

In previous years there have been efforts to cage voters using returned mailings. It's a technique mostly used by republicans for general elections and aimed at young people who change addresses.

I've not seen a credibly sourced story about such in WI, yet.

check on that as well. I think a Wisconsin license is enough but better double-check. Walker changed the requirements. Students especially should look into this!

4. The ID requirements are new, but one can register at the polls, which don't open until Tuesday ....

The "lines are very long" reports may just be intended to discourage voters so one shouldn't really propagate them.

Where to get voter ID

* You must be a US Citizen and at least 18 by next election

* You must provide:

5. A few clarifications

There is no specific "voter ID," just a short list of accepted IDs that people could already have: WI driver's license or state (nondriving) ID or receipt given after applying for one, US passport, military ID, tribal ID, certificate of naturalization, college student ID if it meets certain requirements, and (recently added) a VA ID card. The stipulations attached to each of these are set out here. One important one is that a driver's license or state ID can be expired back to Nov. 4, 2014 and still be accepted. Also, the license address does not have to be current. A voter who has to register should bring a utility bill, bank statement or government document or letter to prove address.
