Bernie Sanders

http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/35697-democrats-march-toward-cliffAs Democratic-insider "super-delegates" give Hillary Clinton a seemingly insurmountable lead for the presidential nomination, the former Secretary of State's negative ratings continue to soar to stunning levels, hitting a net 24-point unfavorable in the new NBC-Wall Street Journal poll.
It is hard to imagine someone who is viewed unfavorably by a clear majority of voters (56 percent) and with a net-negative of 24 points winning the White House, except that most voters also don't like the top Republican choices either. Donald Trump sports a 41-point net-negative and Sen. Ted Cruz is at minus-23 points. (By contrast, of the two trailing candidates, Sen. Bernie Sanders gets a net-positive 9 points and Gov. John Kasich a net-positive 12 points.)
While Clinton's dismal approval ratings haven't seemed to have shaken the Democratic establishment, which continues to line up behind her long-anticipated coronation, some outside analysts see the party leaders blindly marching toward a cliff. But a major difference between Trump and Clinton in the latest poll is that Trump's numbers haven't moved much while Clinton's net-negative has almost doubled in the last month. In other words, the more Americans get to see of Clinton the more they don't want her.
Despite Sanders's string of victories, Clinton still leads him in elected delegates, but her daunting lead comes from her dominance of "super-delegates," party insiders who are not chosen by primaries or caucuses but still get to vote at the convention. According to The Associated Press tally, Clinton has 1,289 elected delegates to Sanders's 1,045, but she has the backing of 469 "super-delegates" to Sanders's 31. To win requires 2,383 delegates.

(2,603 posts)Trump must outright win the R nomination. I really see them going with anyone else, especially if Hillary takes it.
If the R's call in a pinch hitter against Clinton? I don;'t see any way Clinton wins. The R's will unite to end Hillary's career and I suspect Dem turnout will be low, especially if it's not Trump.

(14,807 posts)tremendous doubt behind her "victory" added to the already mistrust and dislike many have for her. I feel this election process is more than deeply flawed. Not only can she not be viewed as viable but lack of turnout for her will almost assure a Trump victory. This is sad for our Planet. Both are sad for our Planet.
I am a fighter by nature. I have been through more than many in my 62 years. I am not giving up. We must find a way to fix this disaster.

(4,280 posts)If she is the nominee, there will be many who will believe it was "fixed". I have doubts due to the NY fiasco and Arizona. She will not be viewed as winning fair and square unless these irregularities are investigated to the fullest extent.

(7,723 posts)for them. I'm really not sure I can ever feel positive about Hillary. I really have no fucking clue why others like her so much.

(14,807 posts)Maybe it is an illusion to how many really like her or as well know facts about her record at all.

(4,667 posts)there are three huge trade deals in place which basically absolve entire industries of major wrongdoing and place the onus on taxpayers around the world to clean up BIOPERSISTANT endocrine disrupting chemicals- Which conservative estmates show costing Europeans 150 bilion Euros a year.
imagine if the US got affordable health care, suddenly all that data would be available - and these huge industries which make these things might be held liable.
Additionally, we're talking maybe half million dollars a person for health care over our lifetimes, apiece.
So, no, they are not going to let Bernie win, they are going to do everything they possibly can to stop not just him but anybody who challenges their ownership of the planet.
What was it the Borg said, "resistance is futile"
of course, it isnt futile, but it may be awhile before people see that and the stakes as they really are.
They will, though.
