Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumBernie has been too nice to Hillary. We may pay the price for that.
I understand that he has wanted to run an issues-only campaign; he is an ethical man. He has chosen to rise above it all, and I love him for that. I applauded him when he said the American people were sick and tired of her damn emails! I have respected his silence regarding the FBI investigation. He never once called her out on all of her lies and distortions, and there have been plenty of them over the years - Bosnia sniper fire, Chelsea at Ground Zero when the planes hit, named after the Mt Everest guy...the list just goes on and on.
Sadly, I am beginning to realize the price we will pay for Bernie's ethics.
Personally, I think the FBI will probably recommend that Clinton be indicted (along with quite a few of her aides), but I am afraid it will be after the convention. There are so many ways that she has allegedly broken the law, wow! If the Justice Dept follows through, and she is charged after the convention, the democrats will be screwed. If the Justice Dept refuses to indict the democratic front runner, then the FBI will release all the damaging info and she will get tried in the public domain. It will be a bloodbath.
On top of that, Anonymous has done a data dump (I refuse to link to it) that I am certain is being devoured as we speak by republican operatives. There's a lot of right wing bullshit in it, but there's also a tremendous amount of jaw-dropping stuff. Everything is substantiated with a link to a news site. Donald's going to have a field day with it all.
We're screwed. Thanks DNC for throwing all your weight behind a candidate with so much baggage. OMG.
If only Bernie had fought dirty, but I really don't mean that. It's just not who he is, and that's why I love him so much.

Can anybody believe that the investigation would still be going on if the FBI has found nothing? Plus, there are two tracks to the investigation, either of which could end Clinton's campaign: 1. the emails; 2. the foundation and Huma Abedin's work and pay (simultaneously) for the State Dept., Mrs. Clinton personally, the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton lobbying/PR firm. Is it even possible that Abedin's work in all four positions did not involve a conflict of interest and conspiracy? If either Clinton or Abedin tried to hide one incriminating e-mail, both would be liable to prosecution. Obama's entire Presidencial legacy will be shattered if he or Justice tries to cover up, to say nothing of the impeachment that will begin immediately if there's no indictment or if Obama tries to pardon Clinton, Abedin or anybody else.

(10,336 posts)Cannot concede. What a freaking disaster for the party in deference to egomaniacal narcissism. And they accuse me of not having any class. If she had any at all, she wouldn't even be in this under the circumstances.

(2,450 posts)His integrity is why people love and support him, it's why we trust him. I think fighting dirty would have hurt him, he'd be just be another disappointing politician. They are a dime a dozen.
As for the investigations, que sera, sera.

(9,704 posts)I am just bemusing that the party is now stuck with a candidate who has so much baggage -- Trump will have a blast with it all.

And in 2020 so will the POTUS.
If Bernie wins, then the same scenario fits.
Gee, what to do?

(1,192 posts)He was never going to go there.
It would have been very uncharacteristic of him, and he rarely does anything that's out of character. He couldn't have done better.

(10,336 posts)moment his ideas see real fruition. He did the party a YUGE favor by giving them a diversion from politics as usual, and he shows them the way forward. We couldn't have asked for a new direction at a better time, and he sure stuck a wrench in the Globalization movement. Might have reinvigorated labor to a small degree. We have to stick to the New Deal and expand on it. It is our party's legacy and it will remain so now.

The DNC and the Clintons are a gigantic dinosaur that won't go away. The dinosaur's now kicking and screaming, stomping on the grassroots.
