Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumSome ground reporting from So Cal.
My Wife has been canvasing and participating in voter drives for Bernie in west LA and the response so far has been fantastic. She's dropped off well over 100 registration forms in the last 2 days... mostly new voters and some who switched from "American Independent" to "No party" after they were told what American Independent" really means in CA.
I am doing some highly unscientific polling in the area. (Bumper stickers).
I see (on average) 5 Bernie Sanders bumper stickers per day.
I have seen exactly 0 Hillary Clinton bumper stickers at all.
I see (on average) about 1 Trump sticker per day (or see someone wearing something that indicates they are for Trump).
The best thing is running into someone with a Bernie T-shirt or hat and seeing the huge smile on their face when I say "FEEL THE BERN".

(27,247 posts)When I heard the name "American Independent Party", I immediately thought of George Wallace 1968, and sure enough, it's the remnants from Wallace's old party.

(45,251 posts)I have emailed everyone I know in California to check their voter registrations and I mentioned the American Independent Party and irregularities in other states. I hope they heed my plea!
I should add, everyone I know in California has supported Bernie since he announced, with the exception of one, whom I flipped to Bernie.

bumper stickers all the time. I have seen exactly 1 pro Hillary sticker and another that read "Hillary for Prison." If there is any enthusiasm for Hillary, I'm not seeing it. She will no doubt get the votes of many who figure she's the presumptive nominee, but I have a feeling Bernie's going to win and win big here. CA is feelin the Bern.

(16,350 posts)Actually I saw two, but the first one said, "Hillary for prison." Truth.

(19,926 posts)Since the primaries started I have seen a total of 1 Hillary bumper sticker and 1 Hillary yard sign. And an approximate total of 3 Bernie yard signs and 12 cars with Bernie bumper stickers. Most of them in the last week alone.
I have 4 on my car and I always honk and wave and yell Feel the Bern when I see another car with one.

(11,358 posts)I saw only Bernie signs and bumper stickers - Hillary won by a narrow margin, even in this town.
I'm still not sure what to make of that. Are her supporters ashamed of her?

(9,933 posts)We're in west Hollywood and also see many Bernie stickers. More each day! But I have seen maybe three Hillary stickers over the past few months. And one Carson sticker which may be ironic. No Trump stickers but one guy I know who runs a shop in SM is for Trump. Talking to other parents at sports and school events though so many from the west side (Culver City, Beverlywood and Palms) and the Westchester, Inglewood and Hawthorn areas are for Hillary. So hopefully the campaign will try to win over more folks there.

(34,825 posts)I've lost track of the Bernie bumperstickers I've seen around the county. I was pleasantly surprised to see my detail guy had a sticker on his van. I also saw a LARGE (20'x20') Nurses for Bernie banner hanging on a barn visible from I-8 in Lakeside, CA, which is 'bagger country.

(2,565 posts)The older forms had "No party affiliation" the the left in BIG BOLD letters.
The newer forms have it all the way to the right and the first thing you see is "American Indepedent"

(2,565 posts)And are supposed to point that out to people if they are filling out American Independent and explain to them that if they choose that they will be unable to participate in the democratic primary on June 7th.
In the few hundred forms that have passed through our home, only 1 had it filled in with American Independent.

(9,298 posts)Here in the San Gabriel Valley I've seen maybe 4 or 5 Hillary bumper stickers over months, but am seeing 3 or 4 every day about town and on the freeway for Bernie. Big organizing meeting in Alhambra Wednesday night - 36 people signed up. LOL we're being told to bring blankets and wear coats 'cause it's in a back yard.

(1,268 posts)Really. Near the 405 freeway, or I-10 where there are zillions of cars each day. Just a big show of people.
I only mention those freeways because thats all I remember when I lived there many moons ago. The 405 is a daily parking lot from what I remember when I visited my aunt in Torrance in 98.
But do something to keep people energized.

Because nothing will drive (excuse the pun) voters away more than the perception that YOU are causing the traffic jam!
