After seeing the entire Barbara Boxer speech in NV, I was shocked to see her practically mocking Sanders supporters like a 15 year old teenager. Her childish behavior should be condemned and she should be asked to resign by every democrat the cares about the party.

(1,134 posts)even though some guy kept trying to ease her way off. She definitely was inciting rather than uniting. Maybe the whole fiasco was planned this way, to piss people off enough to "throw chairs" - though I don't think they're that clever.

(443 posts)Once people protested loudly it gave them the excuse to push the narrative. Watch in next few weeks when FBI report comes out Clinton will gracefully bow out and DNC will put Biden up. The idiots in DC bubble think that if they can paint Sanders bad enough they will get away with doing something like that. I mean it is insane this late in game to be pulling such Ratfuckerey when Clinton is so far ahead. It is nearly impossible to get 65% from CA. And when you are in charge of counting the votes you control who wins, so why risked pissing off a large part of (D) voters unless you are trying for some other out come.

(9,933 posts)They don't need or want Bernie supporters to vote in the general. Media will spend enough time convincing plenty of republicans and independents that Hillary (who they've hated for so long) is a better choice than Donald. Which is true...but still risky given the amount of time and effort put into demonizing the Clintons in the past.

(48 posts)The left has grown from 25 percent of the party to nearly 50 percent in 8yrs and I think the old guard is trying to salvage these last few yrs they have left. It seems their in panic mode at this point and acting out like children!

(443 posts)running in GE. They just need to get a very negative narrative on Sanders before the convention so they can slip Biden in and Clinton can boy out "for health reasons". Howard Dean with his tweets about knowing what is best for America shows how the DNC insider bubble works. They will hand all Hillary's delegates to Biden. At least that is what I think is going to happen.

(11,546 posts)Dear Senator Boxer,
I already left you a phone message telling you what I think of your behavior this past Saturday and the fact that you are still smearing Bernie and his supporters. But in case that doesn't mean anything to you, here is what others are saying (since they too saw the videos and LACK of violence that you have consistently lied about):
From Democratic Underground:
"Barbara Boxer: There were angry proles standing only 6 feet away from me, swearing at me
For some reason, they didn't like the fact that I was taunting them. Nor did they appreciate that the convention rules were being arbitrarily changed on the spot, right in front of their faces, so as to snuff them out.
Just how did these peons manage to invade my personal, senatorial space in the first place? And even though none of the people yelling at me actually threatened me in any way, why weren't there more security personnel there to crack their skulls? I am a "progressive", you know.
I just can't figure it out; what was their problem, anyway?"
"Dear Barbara, if you don't want people to be angry with you then don't insult them."
"She was only there to help her elite pal in California, shame on Barbara Boxer, what a way to ruin her reputation."
"Once, she was a liberal icon, and fighter. Now, she's become an entitled princess, even going so far as to smear Bernie supporters so as to boost her candidate. "
And these comments are just a small fraction of what people are saying - Democrats, Senators. Not Republicans. These are YOUR people! Your behavior was so UN states(wo)man-like that I was shocked that it was you. You could have diffused the situation. You could have empathised with the angry people and gotten them to listen to you. Instead you acted like a 12 year old who couldn't handle a little booing. And I saw all of the videos, Senator. You were NEVER in harm's way. If you think that you were, you live a VERY sheltered life and should come hang out with me in central San Jose. There are ACTUAL violent people in my area. :/
I am glad you are retiring though. It sounds like you need it.
Sincerely,
dana_b

(39,909 posts)This is NOT someone in fear of their life. She was the "Bullly", not the Sanders supporters in the crowd.
I don't know what she, Hillary, or the Hillary campaign expect to gain from alienating many thousands of Bernie Supporters this close to the General Election.
Do you believe that there is a single Bernie supporter there who though, "Gee. After listening to Boxer, I better vote for Hillary."

If that was supposed to be conciliatory then I'm not sure I want to know what inflammatory looks like.

They were right to boo her.
She should have had a speech about the democratic party, NOT about Hillary.
It was a Convention for the PARTY. It was NOT a convention for Hillary.
Good grief Charlie Brown!
