Tech Company: We Will Put Up $10 Million For Bernie-Trump Debate

WASHINGTON — A technology investment company has offered to put up the $10 million for charity that Donald Trump said on Thursday would be needed to hold a debate with Bernie Sanders.

Trump told late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week that he would participate in a debate with Sanders.

After Sanders agreed to do so, Trump, on Thursday, said $10 million would need to go to charity for him to actually participate in the debate.

“Yesterday, Mr Trump asked for a $10 [million] donation to charity in order to accept Mr Sanders’ challenge to debate him,” Richie Hecker, chairman and CEO of Traction and Scale, told BuzzFeed News in a statement. “We are willing to offer that $10 [million] donation in return for the opportunity to host the debate.”

The proposal is unusual because neither party has formally chosen its nominee, and because Sanders is extremely unlikely to be the Democratic Party nominee given that Hillary Clinton has significantly more pledged delegates than Sanders and the overwhelming number of unpledged delegates have said they will back her at the convention.

Trump is always talking about what a savvy business man he is, but are the effects of his campaign on his finances challenging that claim? Since he started his run last summer, it looks like Trump’s real estate business is crashing, reports US Uncut.

Hotel bookings for Trumps hotels have reportedly dropped a whopping 59% compared to last year. As he becomes synonymous with racism and sexism, his brand is becoming less and less valuable. His two worst-hit locations are New York and Las Vegas, where he has seen a 74% and 71% drop in sales respectively.

It doesn’t look like this is an issue of the market. Other hotels saw rises in profit, while Trump’s is dropping drastically.

With sales this bad, it’s only likely that they’ll continue to worsen as the November election approaches. With more and more attention on Trump all of the time, more and more people will associate him with the hatred, racism and bigotry he represents. Even if he pivots to the center, it’s unlikely his infamous comments will go forgotten to his former hotel clientele.

A boycott on Trump’s entire business network has been called by various Latino and other groups across the country. Started around the time of his allegations of Mexicans as rapists and drug dealers, this boycott has lived on, spreading to other groups.

Trump has used his brand to stay rich for his entire life, but that brand has been tarnished. He is throwing away a chunk of his financial success to taint our country’s political discourse, and his own image. And somehow he’s still a “good businessman”?

For months, the signs have been showing that Trump’s campaign style is ruining his image. The writing has been on the walls from the very beginning. You simply can’t expect to be such a negative public figure and continue to do well financially.

He is selling himself to America as the guy who knows how to “make deals” and succeed in business, but his choices in this campaign tear that notion right apart. How can he help American business if he can’t even get the concept of public relations down properly?

The list of subcultures and sub-groups of people of people Trump has managed to insult in the last year has been astounding. Veterans, prisoners of war, Native Americans, Latinos, refugees, black, muslims, women, poor people…the list goes on and on.

He has still been able to power through the Republican primary with this kind of behavior. His hotel business, however, is not as lucky as his campaign. Economists often say you vote with you dollar, and Trump is clearly losing that election.
