Sanders wraps up Kern County visit in Delano

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders wrapped up his time in Kern County with a trip to the 40 Acres in Delano on Sunday.

Sanders arrived to Bakersfield on Saturday, and drew in crowds of people for a rally at the Kern County Fairgrounds.

On Sunday, Sanders toured the historic 40 Acres, the first headquarters of the United Farm Workers Labor Union, along with the family of UFW leader Cesar Chavez.

"I'm honored to be here to learn about the plight of the farm workers and how we go forward," Sanders said.

Sanders said there is still a lot to be done to improve the lives of farm workers.

"When workers are paid horrendously low wages, and they are exposed to pesticides, or when water that comes out of their tap is undrinkable with different kinds of toxins...the people have to be held responsible," he said.

1. It touched him. You could tell the way he spoke about it.

Same thing happened when he went to the border in San Diego. He has traveled the country and interacted with people with an open heart. I am impressed.

2. Love it

how Bernie has spotlighted Native Americans and farm workers in his campaign. Giving voice to the heretofore voiceless.

3. unfortunately, having an open heart is

not a requirement for any office.

but bernie does have heart along with vision, experience, good judgement, communications skills, and wisdom. he will be a great president.
