I was going to wait till the 15th, but it is clear that the wolves are howling at the door and the DU I knew will be pretty much toast after tomorrow, regardless of the results in CA. Better to just start settling into a new home now (that would be JPR of course).

Official "Goodbye DU" Post
1. We won't let the door hit us on the way out -- thanks for your concern.
2. We won't be returning while Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton is the presumptive or actual Democratic nominee -- and perhaps not even after her inevitable fall. That should comfort many of you, which I guess just goes to show you were never really our friends.
3. We won't be voting for Trump, but have fun with that talking point.
4(a). We may not be voting for Hillary -- deal with it. If that means we were "never Democrats anyway", so be it (just ignore all our previous votes for Obama, Kerry, Gore, Clinton, et al.)
4(b). Oh, and Bernie Sanders and Ralph Nader are in fact two completely different people.
5. We're not magically going to disappear, nor are the many others who showed up to Sanders' rallies, phone banked for him, put up bumper stickers and/or lawn signs, or just honked at people standing on the corner with a Bernie sign. We will grow more numerous and more powerful, and we will eventually win. (And we will do so without throwing chairs.) You are on the wrong side of history.
6. Many, many of us are African American, women, Latino, elderly, LGBT, you name it. And some of us are young white males, not that there's anything wrong with it. Oh, and some of us are young independent millennial women with our own minds who don't choose a candidate based on who young men our age are supporting. Lol.
7. We leave sadly, not gleefully or spitefully. We sincerely wish more of you had not become so blind, deluded, jaded, fearful, peer-pressured, militant, or whatever it was that could cause you to support such a flawed individual or candidate for the Democratic Party nominee for President. For you, not for us.
8. Mostly, we leave because there's no use even talking to you anymore. We know you feel the same way about us. Call it irreconcilable differences.
(If I missed anything, please add it below.)

Thank you for your thoughtful words.
(I wonder if Skinner is prepared for the declining revenue stream happening soon.)

(13,574 posts)wherever and whenever I can. I really think it was Bernie that would have given us the most pop in Congressional races. That might be the biggest consequence of having Hillary take the nomination.

(23,867 posts)One thing I feel strongly about, as we organize and create a new alternative media in America- We ARE the Democratic party. Before we leave the party, we are going to stand and represent the same values that created the party. I will not abandon the party until it is declared dead, or taken over by the "others". I have to be careful here now since I'm walking on eggshells. One more alert, and I'm probably banned. Haha. I can only laugh. But inside I cry for those who are vulnerable. That's the part that the new dems have forgotten. America isn't about "ME".

(55,981 posts)lock and hide your posts, and threaten you with banning. If they wanted life without us, they had the Hillary Group, but many found that not satisfying enough. What fun it is to self-righteously push others around esp when you have the admins on you side. As far as the money stream, I don't think Skinner needs it. If he did, all he would have to do is get the hundreds of new recently joining Clinton supporters to pay up. Although, I have a hunch they will be gone also.

(65,173 posts)I won't be posting much at DU. I could have some anti-Trump things to say here, but the vast majority of my time will be at JPR. I will follow the DU rules like I always have, and if that means moving over, I will do that. Now I have my doubts over whether Trump will even get through the GE. The guy has real mental issues. But I want to be able to criticize Hillary if I want to, and many of the same people I have been avoiding here will be around during the GE - minus many of the Sanders people. It will not be fun here.

(4 posts)See you there. Thanks for this amazingly clear and on-point summing up of what's happened at DU. I've been lurking since the early (quite dark) chimpy/cheney years, and found much comfort & insight here. No more. Of the Clinton supporters, you said: "You are on the wrong side of history." Yes.
Thanks and see you at Jackpine Radicals.

(2,150 posts)that is very diligent in monitoring its posts and being fair.
Today is the upteenth time that DU monitors have either hidden my post from the front page, or insured that it was locked, even though it was not me but another poster who went "over the top. Instead of deleting the "over the top" post....they simply locked my OP.
Not fair here anymore. It's been creeping into the site for years.
Have a good journey into places where truth and honesty have some meaning.

(43,049 posts)So, what do you do if Hillary is actually the winner and you have no Bernie to work with?
Or, if Bernie actually gets the nod, will you come back to a relatively peaceful DU?
Some of us have stayed out of the braying nothingness that is the primary fighting. We will be satisfied to support the Democratic nominee against Trump, even if it is not our preferred candidate.
Life around here is quiet and peaceful without the Bernie, Hillary or GD-P groups, and those of us who don't hang out there don't feel stalked or abused.
Nothing will be decided here on the pages of DU, so why fight here? And when challenged foolishly, why answer the challenges?

What's that stupid alert phrase about being hurtful... whatever.
JPR isn't just about Bernie. It's about bringing back the ideals of the old Democratic Party. Caring about people, the country, democracy, the environment and the World. And it's about standing up to corruption. Hypocrisy. Sell Outs. Du has changed dramatically from the Shrub years.

(7,911 posts)I, too, am on the verge of writing my letter of resignation from DU. There's no point in trying to promote the values that made the Democratic party great in the past. Now that it has been assimilated by the "Borg" that is our corporate overlords, there's probably no going back.
1972 posts is about as many as I care to bother with, so from here on out I'm going to sit on my front porch and watch the world go to hell in a hand basket, and just laugh my ass off at the absurdity of it all.
So long and thanks for all the fish.

(7,968 posts)I won't be saying goodbye to DU. When I originally signed up I knew it (DU) wasn't an exact match for my political perspective but I generally support democratic candidates as a result of being an anti-Republican.
In this general I will only vote for Clinton IF my state is contested. Otherwise I will vote for the Green party candidate. If some over zealous Hillary supporter wants to alert on that statement then I'll proudly take the hide.
I live in Michigan and it has been blue for since the 90's so I don't expect it to suddenly go for the Dumpster. If something weird happens and it does then I'll hold my nose and vote Democratic for PROTUS.

(323 posts)Y'all can't remember but early in primary season DU was what jack line radicals and caucus 99 is now. Jus remember the real problem is the Republican Congress and if you concentrate your energies there since we'll your candidate was really no going to win after SC, we will all be grateful beyond all measure. Also vote for Judge Morgan or anyone but Edmunds in NC today. Vote in Midterms and special elections. And watch Person of Interest tonight.
