(20,144 posts)Unfortunately, unless the voter is registered as a Democratic or "Unaffiliated" they won't be able to. If they are registered as Green Party they can't vote in the Democratic Primary.

(11,175 posts)She could have done something meaningful if, several weeks before the deadline, she had urged those registered as Greens to change to Democratic or No Party Preference.
As it is, I can't see this as anything but her attempt to piggyback on Bernie's popularity and use it to get her name in the paper. Unfortunately, her ploy worked.

(11,175 posts)If Bernie wanted the Green Party nomination, he could have had it for the asking a year ago, and spared himself a lot of grueling campaigning.
Bernie can't be accused of bias against third-party politics, given his history in Vermont. But he also can't be accused of stupidity. He realistically assessed the prospects and concluded, correctly, that Vermont politics afforded the space for a third party to the left of the Democrats to succeed. In this cycle, he realistically assessed the prospects and concluded, again correctly, that national politics do not afford such a space. In one interview, he specifically referenced the Nader debacle of 2000 and made it clear that he didn't want to emulate Nader in helping to elect a Republican.
Hey, Naderites, spare me your cant about 2000 and Lieberman evil and Gore couldn't even carry his own state and Florida Dems who voted for Bush and Nader had a right to run and Gore really did win despite Nader and all the rest of it. We've heard it. I'm answering the question by Autumn Colors about what Bernie will do, and Bernie agrees with those of us who believe that, if Nader hadn't exercise his undenied right to run in the general election, Gore would have become President. If you think he's wrong, send him a letter urging him to accept Stein's overtures. I predict you'll get nowhere.
If Bernie is not the Democratic nominee, he will endorse whoever is the nominee. Period.

(11,175 posts)If Clinton wins, I expect her to pivot to the right, i.e., govern as more of a conservative than the suddenly-I'm-a-progressive who emerged in the campaign. I expect to be opposing many of her initiatives.
But if Trump wins, he'll be doing a lot more for me to oppose. He'll probably have GOP majorities in both houses. We can't spend time working for single-payer health care if we're fighting off the privatization of Social Security or the enactment of big tax cuts for the rich.
