Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumCNN said that Bernie met with Obama over the weekend.
Did anyone catch that?
The implication was that Obama would apply some pressure.

(12,655 posts)bernie will not have to work with him anymore. i really hope that bernie politely tells him what to do with his pressure.

(50,130 posts)In a few months he will be more powerful than Obama. He is the head of a movement that is changing the face of American politics. And head of a coalition of progressives and independents.
Obama and Clinton have their coalition of the past. Bernie has the future.

(13,877 posts)So, cue the new Failure Bubble. I can hear it already.
The Republicans got a little jump on us with their New Coalition, aka Tea Party on steroids. But seems like for them, the wackier Trump gets, the better they like it. I think, like a lot of us, they are so fed up with the Establishment Crap...which is no longer much of a Party identity ... but their 2016 convention...like ours...will go down in history books.
Our "Let them eat cake" period is currently active, IMO. Next, peaceful but resolute Revolution. It is happening.
Just like you said...The Future.

(39,451 posts)Bernie and asked him questions about his plans BUT I cannot believe President Obama would pressure him.
And if he did, I doubt Bernie would back down.
The reason why I don't think the President would pressure Bernie is because he knows the implication that would have on 10 million + voters. They want unity. Pressuring Bernie to drop out would be another way to divide the party.
This kind of crap is exactly what we are fighting against.
It was only 8 years ago when Obama was the motivational candidate.
It would really be a dumb thing for him to do.

(50,130 posts)But I fear that Obama himself is under a lot of pressure. And I have no doubt that Hillary would smash him down in a heartbeat if she thought she needed to.

(3,919 posts)he is not facing a possible indictment. he has many, many, many reasons to not come right out and endorse her. if he does, he will use a weak act or his best performance art. we will see what vocabulary he actually uses.
what could she possibly throw at him? although, i do not think her corporate supporters would not fail to threaten him in some way as they did just before the tpp fast track appeal. i don't believe for a second a "deranged" former cia operative got into the white house by accident.

(50,130 posts)It happens all the time in the world of the mob, the world of the intelligence community, and other entities.
The person who needs to cooperate, keep mouth shut, do something that might be morally objectionable, is set up for some kind of pressure to cooperate.
Obama could have been sucked in to some action that would ruin him if exposed. Or she may have emails from him that will reveal something negative. She may be willing to blackmail him. Or ruin him.
We know how low she will go -- she hid a rogue foreign policy from him and jeopardized his administration.

(3,919 posts)nothing will stop her.
and, i will never forget the look on president obama's face the morning after his first "briefing" as president. he looked as if life itself had been sucked out of him following the joy and power of his inaugural speech and the celebration the night before.
i am very sure the cards were set for him on the table that morning. a few days later, soros arrived at the white house for a closed meeting. yes. yes. things are very nasty.
but, president obama is a very smart man. even if he is forced to support the evil witch, (there are good witches but she ain't one of them) he is giving bernie a heads up. president obama does believe in bernie's platfrom. for example - the president boldly supported not privatizing social security when we know the clintons would like nothing more than to privatize it.
the next several days will be interesting, indeed.

(13,877 posts)or observe much more than that. He is under tremendous pressure...look at the havoc the Clinton Machine has caused in almost every level of government. State, FBI, AJ, the SDs ... she/they have them all in an uproar...darn near checkmate, but not quite. And anyone who does not think he knows Exactly What is Going On, well, I disagree.
I believe the Clinton Hubris Reign is about to come to an end. And it won't be pretty.

(3,919 posts)him something else and asked him to stay to the convention. we don't know.
maybe there will be some tells at tonight's rally.
but, i do know bernie believes wholeheartedly that the people's voice must be heard and expressed over all.
also, "party unity" can also apply to getting the party to unify behind bernie - the strongest candidate for all of us and against trump. so why would we unite around the weakest candidate who may be indicted any day now? this is just plain stupid.
how about "party unity" behind bernie?
we can do this now at the convention.
