Bernie Sanders

I don't know if this is acceptable to post or not, but these are my plans for the upcoming months and the General Election.
1). I am not leaving this board, it is one of several news feeds that I use and overall I find it has some usable information from time to time. I also use other sources online, so this isn't the only stop along the way. Should it come to pass that I am not able to post for some reason, I can simply lurk and read as I choose. I don't know how that would occur as I really don't get into threads and post much and try as I can to remain civil.
2). I have trashed a few candidates names in various forms on my filter function, so I don't see too much about them. Some things still crop up here and there, but I can pretty much just scroll past them.
3). I will vote in November, as there are very important state and local races going on in Missouri and I intend to participate, doing what I can do. How I vote and for what offices I choose to vote or what offices I choose to skip on the ballot are entirely my affair and will pretty much stay that way. What others choose to do, is entirely their business. I hope everyone gets out to vote and exercises their civic duty no matter who they choose to select on the ballot. That is how the system is supposed to work and I would like to see everyone registered and voting.
4). I have pretty much lost ALL interest in TV "news" and even find the Weather Channel ( or Weather Underground or whatever they are this week) to be more drama than is necessary to report what is going on about the subject. So the He said/She Said of the coming months is not of interest to me and just like professional sports is something that I will ignore. There is lots going on both in my world and the entire world that takes priority over the US Presidential Election in my view.
Life is much than politics, the results of the coming election in November and who supports who.

(2,603 posts)Presidential election I tune out of completely. I have no dog in this fight. There's bad and really bad and I jst have no interest in either presumptive candidate.
I'll focus on some local down ticket races, but nobody has gotten me really excited enough to go out and campaign. Canova's district is only two hours away and I hope to help him a bit for his primary fight.
Like you I've turned of the TV "news". I rarely watched before they chose our current presumptive candidates, but around October of last year was the last time they were seen by me for good. Even voting coverage was watched online rather than on TV, a true first for me.
Strange times we live in. I think the media is going to be disappointed by their viewership numbers this season. They made horrible picks for us and many dedicated viewers might tune out just like us.

I will vote down-ticket - except, in all cases, for DINOs. I live in Florida. Seems like most of the Democrats in the higher offices really are DINOs. DWS, Nelson, Murphy, Graham - all DINOs.
I have not watched TV news for many years, and watch very little network TV, so will not be seeing political ads very much. And any emails I get about Hillary get the unsubscribe treatment. ANY emails, from ANY source. I am not likely to get emails about Trump.
As far as the top race in the GE - I pretty much think that those who can stomach either candidate - their policies, their baggage - can vote for them. After all, wouldn't that be the fucking "will of the people"? I expect there will be as much chicanery, if not more, than in the primaries.
FWIW, grandson says his buddies feel like Congress will keep a tighter rein on Trump, so he is not scarier than Hillary. Interesting viewpoint!
Yes, it is. I will proceed accordingly. probably start that website/blog about low-carb eating that I have copious notes for. I get hung up on where to do that, for some reason - so I have lots of research to do!

(15,637 posts)all of the same mind basically. What strikes me about that is my middle child (2nd son) is gay; and my daughter is a woman of course. Neither of them will vote for Hillary despite the legitimate equal rights concerns they may have. They give more weight to the broader issues: income inequality, corporatocracy, global warming, corruption in governance/elections.
