🐦 April 28 at 7PM - BERNIE SANDERS TO KICK OFF PRIMO MAGGIO CELEBRATION IN BARRE

Sen. Bernie Sanders will kick-off this year’s 2 day Primo Maggio celebration at Barre’s historic Old Labor Hall with a talk, “From Debs to Sanders: fighting for Change,” Friday, April 28 at 7 pm. Sen. Sanders will be introduced by Vermont Lt. Governor David Zuckerman.

Sponsored by the Barre Historical Society, the Primo Maggio celebration was begun by the Hall’s founders 1901 and revived in 2004. Primo Maggio, or May Day, is widely celebrated as International Workers’ Day. Sanders’ topic pays homage to the founding socialist granite workers and honors their desire that the Hall serve as a center for the presentation, discussion, and debate of public issues.

Information from organizations promoting social justice, labor, and health care will also be available, starting at 6:15

There is no charge for the Sanders event. Reservations are highly recommended and will be available on a first-come basis beginning April 15 at oldlaborhall.org. For more information phone 802-479-5600, text 802-331-0013, or email info@oldlaborhall.org. Tickets for the dinner, talk, and music are $25 and may also be reserved at oldlaborhall.org.

Of historical interest is the audio documentary prepared for Folkways Records by Bernard Sanders in 1979 (accomanied by a slide show). The liner notes are available in PDF format.
