Bullock, Quist, Sanders speak to Yellowstone County Democrats at annual Truman Dinner

Excerpt:

The second visit by Sen. Bernie Sanders to Billings in roughly a year began on Saturday night at the 30th Annual Truman Dinner, a fundraiser for the Yellowstone County Democrats.

Sanders arrived in the midst of an animated speech by Gov. Steve Bullock. As the governor greeted the Independent senator from Vermont, a cheer went up in the downtown DoubleTree hotel event room and attendees stood to applaud him, with some chanting “Bernie! Bernie!”

Rep. Kelly McCarthy, chair of the Yellowstone County Democrats, said since the 2016 election he doesn’t recognize “half the faces” he sees at the organization’s meetings. “I think they realize what happened in November,” he said. “Sitting on the sidelines isn’t an option anymore.”

According to McCarthy the event was already on pace to sell out, but ticket sales ratcheted up with the announcement that Sanders would be in attendance.
