Never heard of Gears of War. From their wiki site, "Gears of War 3 is a 2011 military science fiction third-person shooter video game developed by Epic Games". Want to explain to me how this is a good thing?

I have no interest in target marketing using this kind of energy, nor do I think it serves the campaign well. I am the parent of a teenage boy who gets Bernie, very much so. If I'm way off base here I will listen to rebuttal, not feeling it though. Admittedly I know nothing of the game, maybe that's where I'm missing your message, but I can't stand games like that and the whole culture they promote.

I'll explain to you how it's a good thing.

Gamers make up a huge (read gigantic) voting population. Absolutely massive. You're a parent and so am I. My kid is 16 and we both game. Ask your son if he's heard of Gears Of War As far as the "culture" which games promote, I am curious which culture that might be because I have met many lifetime friends through online gaming.

17. My remark about the culture

was not so much about the gaming culture, which I know little about (intentionally so), but our nation's culture, which fetishizes the practice of conflict resolution through violence, which incarcerates more people than any other nation, which spends by far more than any other nation on its military even though we have no immediate threats to defend ourselves from, and what threats there are are largely or wholely due to blowback from past military adventurism where our troops killing people in other people's countries have the people that live there wanting to kill us. It's a warrior culture of violence, mayhem and murder, that's the culture I'm talking about. It's supported by the corporate interests who use the U.S. taxpayer to finance the strong-arm of global capitalism for the purpose of access to to and extraction of physical resources for corporate use without giving the locals control over said resources.

You might think I'm a little over the top in linking all of that to your Bernie graphic, and thanks for supporting Bernie. I may well be a little over the top, but I think this whole violent warrior culture serves certain interests and has been sold to us through manipulation by news media and entertainment, which includes gaming and movies. I see supporting Bernie as one way to pull back support from this huge machine that uses our country's military and domestically uses our country's police force, as capitalism's control mechanism.

I get what you're saying but know this; video games are a world wide phenomenon and it's not ever going away, much like rock and roll never did. Remember all the stuff they once said about Elvis in the 50s? And how "that music" was that of the devils own making? That reminds me of the convo you and I are having here. No offense. However, every single kid these days plays games, it's part of society. From Star Wars to COD to Minecraft.

Think about it for a second, just how large the industry is as a whole. Bands release soundtracks for video games, look at Guitar Hero for instance. Clothing lines are spawned, every single sports franchise known to man has a video game dedicated to it. Even the US Army has developed a video game "America's Army" to train recruits and which the public can play too.

You see "violent warrior culture", you know what I see? A war for the survival of our country! Do you get the correlation yet? Bernie is shown as an ass kicker, which he is and the time has come to where we are sick of not fighting back and it's high time we did. That's what that conveys and it is specifically targeted at 18-30 year olds. Do you know what that does? It communicates to them that he's in touch with their demographic. Remember Bill Clinton going on MTV?

It's not about size of the demographic to me as much as it is about reforming our national character, which is way too macho and violent (and the war-funding corporations like it that way), seems it would be hard to argue with that.

11. I've been thinking of a halloween commercial

with scary music, and a rich guy looking sideways out a window, and back to his kids, to tell them a story of how everything 'went wrong', when the regular people suddenly threw aside the chosen candidates and decided to put a (music builds to a spooky crescendo) SOCIALIST in the White House! And now he actually pays a greater percentage in taxes than his secretary, AND he has to pay her at least $15 an hour! AND he pays social security taxes on everything he makes!
