How engaged are we?

How many of Bernie "pyromaniacs" are actually doing something to drag the entire party left?

Are you members of the Democratic Party?
Do you attend city/county/state meetings and keep progressive pressure on?
Do you bring someone (or twelve) new to meetings to build voting blocks?
Are we insuring that every single office has a Democratic candidate?
Are we pushing for referendums to garner voter turnout?
Are we registering voters?

I can do more, I just have to get on it.

But some recruitment for the Party is allowed?
Registering voters?
Walking partitions in neighborhoods?

but because I do all kinds of this piece-work to support myself and my disabled daughter, I don't have much free time, and staying home and blogging is the way I choose to go. It's warm, it's indoors, and it doesn't involve heavy lifting. And I am not a people-personality. So, I work within my limits.

In 2000, Nader asked me to lobby to get him into the debates. In 2004, Kucinich asked me to join my local party organizations and talk to my neighbors. This was an eye-opener--I discovered that very, very few were policy wonks. A few Camp Wellstone sessions taught me how wonks could learn to talk effectively to the less engaged, and I've been going full steam ever since. Knocked 3000 doors in the primary for my Seattle City Council candidate. Branching out more and working for other local candidates in the general, as well has trying to re-elect a Dem state representative.
