Bernie Sanders volunteers launch local efforts, North Carolina

A quietly attentive crowd perked up as Corbin Trent hoisted a stack of phone bank papers.

"Let's get Bernie in the White House!," he said over the crowd's cheers.

And with that, the crowd - more than 50 people from across the region - broke into small groups to set up phone bank events. The meeting was the first for Sandhills North Carolina for Bernie Sanders, a grassroots organization supporting the presidential candidate.

Trent, a campaign coordinator for the national campaign, traveled to Fayetteville to speak to the energized crowd on Friday night.

All we have to do is stay focused, work hard, and perhaps we'll see rewards in the weeks ahead.
