See, my elderly Mom would choose the debate over Downton Abbey if she knew how to DVR, but she doesn't, like many people of her generation.
She's already supporting Bernie (and this is the great-granddaughter of prominent slave-owners we're talking about here, who grew up wanting to redress the injustice she saw around her). But, if she were on the fence, or just assuming, as the main demographic of Downton Abbey might, that they're Clinton supporters until they hear anything very different, then she wouldn't really get to hear a different message tonight, would she?
Playoffs have one demographic wrapped up. Downton Abbey another. EVERYONE knows that Sunday nights in January and February are Downton Abbey nights for the 45-plus set.
Good work, Debbie.

I will DVR one or the other. Downtown Abbey is my favorite Sunday evening way to wind down.

And who cares about the National Football League Playoffs, or it being MLK holiday weekend, or some show called "Downton Abbey"?

Retirement communities and nursing homes with tv's don't stream and dvr stuff very much either yet.
It's simple for me to watch it on PBS online through my Roku w/o even taping it, but try explaining that to most elderly parents/grandparents. Just getting my elders to understand digital cable has been an uphill battle.

so Hillary could make it back to the podium in time.

(3,544 posts)Don't really care about Abbey, or the playoffs, or the fact that it is a holiday weekend. Such is life
I wouldn't miss this debate for anything. With all the shit in the past 3-4 days, I can't wait to see how this turns out tonight.
Go Bernie, Go!!!!!

Now, whether people are in any mood to watch the debate after the games today is another debate, but the games shouldn't run over into the debate time slot.
