O'Malley to speak at Iowa Spirit Awards.
Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley will speak at the Iowa Spirit Awards, an event celebrating Iowa's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning students and educators.
O'Malley, the former governor of Maryland, is scheduled as a keynote speaker.
Kristin Beck, a transgender former Navy Seal, is also a keynote speaker, according to the event's website.
The Spirit Awards are set for 7 p.m., Oct. 30 at the State Historical Museum, 600 E. Locust St., Des Moines.
