Here's how Orlando plans to deal with the global threat of climate change.

*'Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has taken steps to help the city's reduce carbon footprint with the expansion of the Lynx Lymmo service and SunRail, added Castro.

The city also is becoming known for solar energy, said Castro. Recently, SolarCity and A1A Solar brought their businesses to Orlando. SolarCity told Orlando Business Journal it may create 300 jobs here. “The cost of rooftop solar has fallen more than 64 percent in the past eight years," said O'Malley.

'O’Malley is not surprised by the growth of renewable energy jobs. “There’s a lot more jobs to be created by addressing climate change than there are to be created in ignoring or denying it. Climate change is no more an illogical issue than is gravity. The carbon dioxide content of our atmosphere is higher than it has been at any time in 3 million years.”

He added that “the difference between a dream and a goal is a deadline.” And Orlando has big plans in how to sustain the city’s future, with goals and deadlines in place.'>>>
