We'll see. It's still very early.

(2,113 posts)So they invented the whole "Mayor Pete is stealing Beto's thunder" nonsense. Now that Biden is in and they have something else to talk about they've lost interest in Mayor Pete. They do this kind of thing all the time.

(37,648 posts)It's for the same reason that I and many others were. He is unique and has charisma. So it was understandable, I guess, that Pete stole the thunder from Beto, who was supposed to fill the slot of younger, newer, fresher guy/gal.
But I don't see why the media turned from Beto so noticeably.
But let's see. There are just so many candidates that those not at the top are struggling just to get noticed.
Beto and Pete are different, so we'll see.

(2,113 posts)Because he wanted to be meeting voters, doing more town halls, etc. Because he did not give interviews they vindictively started doing things to "punish" him by minimizing him and implying he was fading and they started creating some silly fake competition between Pete and Beto.

(37,648 posts)Real Time w/Bill Maher. I think Morning Joe. Other MSNBC evening shows.
If Beto being on would mean ratings, they wouldn't let a turn-down discourage them. They have people who can't be on quite frequently, for various reasons. Mainly scheduling.
I think it's because of Pete. He took that slot that Beto was going to fill: the younger, more passionate-inspiring, new generation guy.

(2,113 posts)I'm glad you really like your chosen candidate. It's a shame you can't do so without insulting another candidate. Beto is going to be just fine. He'll still be in it long after many others fade into obscurity.

(37,648 posts)If you are referring to the fact that Beto isn't gaining much traction yet because Pete has stolen his thunder, because Pete is the new guy in school, well, I speak facts and truth.
As I said, I like Beto. It's early. The fascination w/Pete will die down somewhat. Let's see how the debates go.
But there's no doubt that Pete made a big splash. Just as Beto did, when HE was new in the mid-terms.
If you want to participate in a group that's just rah-rah without truth and facts about your candidate, there are groups created for that purpose. The main Primaries Forum is not for that purpose.
I have no candidate as yet. I can say good things about a candidate without supporting him or her. Pete is unique and has some great qualities that make him stand out. I am not supporting him, though. Beto is great at politicking and on the campaign trail and has people skills. I am not supporting him, though. Biden has national name recognition and is a known fairly honorable person with tons of experience in different areas. I am not supporting him, though.
I'm waiting for the debates to see how those go.
