The media loves a good storyteller. This was Obama's secret. Mayor Pete gets it.

4. his biggest boat anchor

is that he is from or is located in Indiana.

He has to win a national office or at least a governorship... I don't think we are ready to nominate a small town mayor as President. The population of South Bend is roughly the same as the population of my little tiny suburb here in CA... my city is so small that many people that live and work in Silicon Valley haven't even heard of it. The only reason that people have heard of South Bend is that it is home of Notre Dame University and it is the 4th largest city in Indiana.

So he needs to be a Senator, Congressperson or Governor from Indiana.

And that is just going to be difficult for a Democrat. Much like Beto winning the Senate seat in Texas.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

or Governor. If he can get on the national stage I think he would be fine. He's brilliant young man, very eloquent and insightful. He has a grasp on the problems we face and how we got in this mess that I have heard from no one else.

In particular, he removed the power of gatekeepers like the media and party structures. No all by himself though. Sanders took on the Democratic Party establishment and got pretty far. He also took on the assumption that someone from the "crazy left" could never make it.

Before both of them Obama harnessed the internet to bypass the old fundraising and organizing gatekeepers.

So if Buttigieg gets enough exposure, money and volunteers will come pouring in. Although, O'Rourke is in a better position for this kind of campaign, since he already has done it once.

Sorry, but ONE TERM in Congress almost two decades in the past is not a serious qualification for the presidency, not these crises-bound times. We need a real leader, not a one-term loser whose main claim to fame is being a corporate lawyer for railroad interests and getting his ass handed to him by Stephan Douglass once already.

At 37 years old, his youth and energy could be a good match with an older more experienced presidential candidate. I really like him. I'm not sure if this is the right election for him to run for president. Of course, if he gets the nomination I will be happy to vote and campaign for him. I'm still undecided for the primary election.
