Without googling, can you name all 24 Dem candidates?

The link below is to a Rolling Stone article, if you want to cheat.
But, it includes Stacey Abrams who has not announced in its list of 24.
And Like most media outlets, they dont count one other person who officially filed in April.
* hint - some say this person “rocks”.

Is there a different threshold from what the media calls a “viable” candidate?

There are 431 candidates for president so far.

Whether any of them have a credible shot at getting on the ballot in enough states, or any states at all, or of attracting any votes, is entirely a matter of money and organization.

Whom the media chooses to deem "viable" is up to them.

But here is the list of 167 candidates who identify their party affiliation as "Democratic"

At $18M he is the second ranked Democratic candidate in total funding, behind Sanders:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Delaney_(Maryland_politician)

John Kevin Delaney (born April 16, 1963) is an American politician and businessman who is running for President of the United States in 2020. He was the United States Representative for Maryland's 6th congressional district from 2013 to 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

On July 28, 2017, Delaney became the first Democrat to announce he is running for president in 2020. Delaney did not run for re-election to Congress in 2018, preferring to focus on his presidential campaign, and David Trone was elected to succeed him.
