CNN to host Beto O'Rourke town hall May 21: Updated with a Livestream link

Last edited Wed May 22, 2019, 11:02 PM - Edit history (7)

Just as a reminder:

Washington (CNN)Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke will speak at a CNN town hall at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday, May 21.

CNN's Dana Bash will moderate the town hall from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

O'Rourke, a former Texas congressman who lost a high-profile Senate race to incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz last year, announced his long-anticipated presidential campaign in March.

He enjoyed a strong launch, raising $6.1 million on his first day in the race and calling for the national hierarchy "to be broken apart" at his first rally in his hometown of El Paso. But a CNN poll last month of Democratic or Democratic-leaning independent voters shows O'Rourke in fifth place with 6% -- a drop from 13% in the previous poll.

Edited to add a link to the article https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/13/politics/beto-orourke-cnn-town-hall/index.html

I keep hoping he gets more 'traction'.

I liked him as a Senate candidate, but he seems lost in the 22+ for President.

Now that he is doing more appearances, I imagine the voters will take to him the same way they did Buttigieg once they saw more of him.

And he is always very, very well received. He has the perfect balance of being incredibly intelligent, really knowing issues and the actual history related to the issues, having sensible, do-able ideas and the ability to motivate/inspire/excite people to action. Add to that the way he listens and hears and includes everyone in the solution and he is just something so special. Every once in awhile someone who asks a question will bring up an issue or idea where he could either learn more or the person has a good idea and he actually gets their info and really gets back to them to get their input. I've never seen a more sincere and authentic candidate other than Jimmy Carter.
