Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumSo why does Beto O'Rourke get all the "white male privilege" questions?
[link:http://

.@BetoORourke gets the sexism in 2020 question, the white male privilege question, constantly. And to his credit, he answers it every time.
But why is he the only white male/male candidate that keeps getting this question?
— Tal Kopan (@TalKopan) <a href="

Inquiring minds want to know. How come Buttigieg doesn't get the same question? Hickenlooper?
Anyone? Anyone?

(4,516 posts)it and the replies seem to go on forever. It is one of those topics that everyone can get in on because there is an accepted DU position on privilege. Oppose it and the hits just keep coming. Agree with it and feel the love.
So what need is there to discuss it?

(7,509 posts)Maybe he should win a statewide office first before declaring he has the capacity to win nationwide. He could be a strong candidate to take a Senate seat, yet he's pursuing a long-shot win for the White House.
Even if he did beat Ted Cruz last year, him running for president now means he's willing to give up a Senate seat for a repuke governor to fill.

(52,147 posts)Pete has gotten it for example. I do think it is a fair question for those who don't have the experience that one usually expects for a Presidential candidate. Pete, Beto, Salwell, Ryan and Moulton all fall into that category. I think both Beto and Pete really fall into that category. 37 and mayor of a mid sized city for Pete and 46 city council man 5 and half years, three term Congressman never in the majority are both skimpy resumes to run on. No way, no how a woman or racial minority could do this and be taken seriously. It should also be noted that Pete, not being straight, doesn't have the full measure of white male privilege that Beto has.
