Which one of our candidates...

...do you feel can best go head to head with trump and beat him insult for insult, lie for lie?

...as much as I would like to talk about issues, I think the 2020 election will be won or lost in a trumpian school yard brawl...

...trump has more than demonstrate the ability to distract, gather press and set the topic agenda of his choice...

...we seem to be forever playing catch-up...

...who do you think can best trump trump at his own game?

...

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. I think it would be a mistake to fight tRump on his own terms. He would love it.

It would make the issue about him, instead of the voters.

I agree with Pete Buttigieg about this: when we focus on tRump, we don't focus on the voters, and they are more important.

...you can't avoid or shame a bully, you have to take him/her on and beat them at their own game...

...you have to bully a bully or you appear weak inviting more bullying...

...to the bystander, issues vaporize and the bully appears strong and you appear weak...

...and at a primordial level, strength in a President is paramount if we're to be saved us from real or imagined evils of the world...

2. they can all do it. the problem is the media and bigots

they will be tougher and more critical on women who are tough.

Biden is more likely to get away with being tough without limits becsuse he is an old white man.

so if you are non white, gay, female, the media will be more picky with you while the dotard will be seen as having won as long as he doesn't pass out.

3. The GOP primaries pretty much proved that's a losing proposition.

A few of them tried to play his game...and lost bigly. I think it's a bad idea.

The Democrats should make this election about issues, just like they did in the midterms.

a propoganda outlet (FOX) that allows them to live in an alternate reality. They want to believe in Dear Leader. Let them go. Focus on expanding voters or convincing some of his to "stay home" on Election Day.

8. Pete Buttigieg has the best way to handle Trump, he calls it "crazy uncle management"
Sat Jun 8, 2019, 01:54 AM
Jun 2019

(from Politico interview, 5/23) “It’s almost like a sort of crazy uncle management. Like, he’s there. You’re not going to disrespect his humanity. But he thinks what he thinks. There’s not much you can do about it.”

“Any energy that goes his way, including energy that goes his way in the form of criticism, turns into a kind of food. He just devours it and gets bigger. What we’ve got to learn is how to kind of stiff-arm him.”

Anyone who can make fun of and laugh at Trump, while not trading insults with him, will drive him crazy. A Reaganesque "well, there you go again, Don, telling lies," with a twinkle in his eyes and a smirk, would be effective. I'd love to see Mayor Pete take Trump apart.

11. I don't know...

...trump's an aggressive, will trained, moving target who will flip an 'awe shucks' moment with an even greater disparaging insult...

...on the other hand, I don't want to make trump out to be invincible or unconquerable...but ever since the 2016 republican primaries people have been groping for a formula to handle and manage trump-shit...I haven't seen anyone do that with much success...

...to me, Biden seems to try but is weak...to talk issues is fine but trump won't talk issues he doesn't like and through insult and lies he controls the debate with the press following...

...the apolitical can recite trumps weekly bullshit but not the latest bill the House passed...

...we'll see...

12. Remember the old saying...
Sat Jun 8, 2019, 08:38 AM
Jun 2019

"Never mud-wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, but the pig loves it."

Every one of our candidates (well, maybe except for one or two...) could wipe out Trump on the debate stage if they manage to keep control.

It wouldn't be easy because Trump is a master of the gish gallop and just outright lying. He has absolutely no shame, and when It would be hopeless to try to rationally respond to his bullshit, or get down to his level, but ridicule would work if done right.

"Liz, many people have..."

"That's Senator Warren, Donnie, and could you name just one of those many people..."

You don't knock him off balance for more than a second or so each time, but keeping it up would eventually tie him up in knots. Part of the trick is reminding him of the lie he told 5 minutes ago.

primary today, I would vote for:

15. I don't think the way to deal with trump is to get into a juvenile name-calling exercise with him.
Sat Jun 8, 2019, 08:49 AM

Where each person tries to outdo the other with high school bully talk. The way, I think, is not to let him get away with misrepresenting facts (lie), and to aggressively go after his faults and unfitness for office, but to somehow stay Presidential.

I see Mayor Pete being able to do that successfully. It fits with his personality naturally, I think. And he's so calm and emotionally stable...he's made to order for that sort of thing.

Biden to a lesser extent, but he's emotional like Trump.

The others - not so much. A couple of them are too angry..one would focus too much on Trump, and the other would be angry and would ignore him too much.

primary today, I would vote for:
