The ever convoluted Iowa Caucuses

Yes, caucuses disenfranchise many voters who cannot be at a specific time at a specific place for long durations. This is especially true in Iowa when the caucuses take place in February, with a chance of a winter storm. Also, in Iowa one has to stand up and be counted in front of neighbors, family members, perhaps bosses and co workers.

But this time 10% of the delegated will be chosen via "Virtual Caucus" through teleconferencing, or something.

Thing is, as a reporter said on CNN, 30% of the voters have expressed their interest in participating in virtual caucus so...

1. Ugh, as if the caucuses couldn't get worse.

Let's throw in a big digital divide; why not?

2. it got so much worse, it's worth emphasizing that

10% of the delegates will be awarded by online/virtual cacussing, and this is the important part, no matter how many people participate online.

It is expected that 30% of voters will caucus online, so their votes will count 1/3 as much as the people voting in person.

The more people caucusing on line, the worse that gets.

Word to the wise, unless you ABSOLUTELY can't make it to the caucus in person, do not caucus online.

kudos to the OP for presenting this
