(60,172 posts)This does prevent someone repeatedly voting as happens on many internet open polls. One problem is that the people who opt to vote are self selected. The bigger issue is that - like our DU primary results - it represents only the Daily Kos population. Note that in both the DU and Daily Kos polls, the numbers of people voting might be different than the people not voting.
That said, this is another in a series of things that suggest that Warren might be moving toward becoming the progressive alternative to Biden. At this point, even in the Iowa polls, that position is split between Sanders, Warren and Buttigieg. (Obviously, there are several not yet polling as high who could do/say something that moves them into becoming the main competitor to Biden. However, on DU, Warren has been moving up.
Given that DU leans to the left, the fact that Biden is still the strongest, might mostly reflect that the progressive side is split between multiple candidates. It is interesting that Daily Kos, which is not that different ideologically, is so heavily Warren. (Might be that that their format favors detailed, strongly defended, diaries rather that our posts, which either share an article or self written commentary. )

Dailykos is a wacky ultra-left wing site that attacks mainstream Democrats like Clinton, Hillary and even President Obama in favor of the fringe candidates.
However, it is good that Senator Warren is an overwhelming favorite as of today -- she would make a great POTUS.

Because why do the hard work of campaigning and building a coalition when you can freep an online poll?
A Gravel road to the Presidency would not go thru Daily Kos, even if it were a Gravel superhighway. That is a concrete fact!
You know it will change but Kos crowd will only count the 1st hour.
Good thing the Kos crowd is the only bunch who will be voting in the primaries this year
It usually takes a couple hours between the call going out on facebook and reddit and the results starting to change.

(60,172 posts)Warren has moved to a close second with Trump, while Sanders has faded substantially. The one difference is that here, you not only vote your one user name, but your choice becomes part of all your posts.
In neither case would the poll be relevant for all voters. Both can at best project where their population sees itself now. Ours is better as freeping is not possible. From our poll, I think that Biden has been and still is number one shows how strong he is because there is no doubt that DU overrepresents the left. However, one FUTURE sign of potential trouble for him, if it happens, would be if the non Biden supporters start to converge between one opponent.
However, consider that both in 1976 and 1992, pundits dreamed of one ABC (Anybody but Carter or Clinton) -- and the opposition remained fractured. In 2008, where we did get essentially a 2 person race, is as close as we have come to that and, in that case, Edwards imploded (even before his scandal) and no one else ever gained traction.
There's still a lot of time and there is still movement poll to poll, but I think Biden still has the best shot at the nomination - almost to the degree that it is his to lose.

(22,236 posts)in the Primaries than any general public media poll out there. So I don't blame all the Biden worriers for being so up in arms over this poll. I'm not surprised that Elizabeth Warren is topping their poll. It will most likely be either her or Buttigieg winning the nomination. Maybe Biden or Harris, but I don't think so.
