Biden leads Trump by 'landslide proportions' in new national poll

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Trump by 13 points nationally according to the latest Quinnipiac University survey.

In a national head-to-head matchup, the poll found Biden taking 53 percent against 40 percent for Trump, with the poll's assistant director describing it as a "landslide" margin.

Five other Democratic contenders also lead the president: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Kamala Harris (Calif.) and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) hold healthy leads over Trump, with Sanders up by 9 points, Harris ahead by 8 and Warren leading by 7.

South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Cory Booker (N.J.) lead Trump by 5 points, with each posting a 47 to 42 split.

ďItís a long 17 months to Election Day, but Joe Biden is ahead by landslide proportions,Ē said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

From link..

Bidenís double-digit lead over Trump is largely driven by the gender gap. The former vice president edges Trump 47 percent to 46 among men. But among women, Biden leads by 26 points, 60 to 34.

26. Yep

A Biden/Harris ticket would be great. Harris, as VP, would then be seen by the country in a leadership position. She would be aligned to be President. Americans are slow to accept women in leadershp positions. This will bring them along.

If she runs for President in 2024, I don't think she'd win. Just like she's not getting much support now. She's missing that charismatic quality that most Presidents have had. She's best in a position like AG.

9. The problem is a national poll doesn't show who can win swing states,

and that's what matters. Anybody with a "D" after their name will win blue states like California.

I want to see what polls say about states Democrats narrowly lost last time -- and that might have a different outcome.

My other issue with an elderly candidate is the higher risk of a health issue before the election, which could throw things into chaos.

78. Yup!

It's all about the math, whether Biden can carry Hillary's states + the Rust Belt. Right now Joe's looking good in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Democrats are going to have to work hard for Wisconsin. But at the moment all indicators point to Joe Biden kicking the Trumpster to the curb. The Donald knows this, too. A good thing. Because regardless of the nomination result, Joe Biden is inside the Squatter-in-Chief's head. And it shows. The more Trump worries and frets, the better for our nominee.

It's just not mathematically possible. Had Hillary won the national popular vote by Obama 2012 margins, so by four-points instead of two, it likely swings Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin into her corner - maybe even Florida and North Carolina.

74. If that were actually true

we could put ANYONE with a D behind their name and win. I think we are ALL going to be surprised at how close this election is going to be. With gerrymandering and voter interference, we are in for a hard, tough battle. Then, add in the cheating at the polls, and we have NO idea who is going to win. I will never be sucked into to a premature celebration again.

And no -- I do not have faith in most American voters to "do the right thing," to not be brainwashed by the media's slop, or to exercise the common sense God gave a goat.

Good thing I'm old because it would really suck for a young person to have my attitude.

But we need to understand how a lot of voters operate. People who are not on DU.

You go to the election with the voters you have, not the voters you wish you had.

Bidenís double-digit lead over Trump is largely driven by the gender gap. The former vice president edges Trump 47 percent to 46 among men. But among women, Biden leads by 26 points, 60 to 34.

Number of white male voters are split 46-47 between Biden and trump. Also not a good sign for trump.
Debates will be interesting but Biden can hold his own in debates.

Congressional investigations, rising costs for food, health care and most everything else are going to help the Democratic candidate and hurt Delusional Donnie. All that combined with tons of hard work may be enough to offset gerrymandering, voter suppression, the Russians, the N
Koreans and whoever else benefits from another term for the Orange Menace.

But I still think a BIG IF.

Especially this far out. They may indicate a general sense of the electorate about the incumbent, but as we have seen, it's the individual state polls that have better predictive power of the winner.

Once the Dems have a nominee, and state polls show a landslide EC victory, then I'll feel better.

Obama 2008, Obama 2012, Democrat John Bel Edwards Democrat governor of Louisiana. There are as may surprises on the upside as the downside, everyone makes mistakes.

Recovering from mistakes is what leadership is about, Warren stumbled out the gate but has made up the difference with consistent messaging.

Sure, anyone can fu*k up. But it isn't news, it's a prediction of failure.

Maybe you're having a bad day, cheer up! We could be hit by an asteroid tomorrow, Republicans have set Democrats up for a victory, they must play defense for another year. Even our "herding cats" party will remain cohesive and focused on beating Trump and ridding government of Republican/Russian traitors.

It's almost as important as winning.

A close win would be spun by Trump into being "fixed". A landslide would stop that rhetoric from being believed by swing voters send a signal to everyone to change course.

Anything short of that and we will keep fighting like we are now. Or it might even get worse.
