but seriously. a few ambassadorships and a cabinet post or 6 will be dealt for enough delegates for biden to win. Bernie will not be his vice president, but maybe warren will. just kidding. a younger female from the Midwest will be vp. klobachar maybe?

brokered convention would be favored, and from what I can see outside Sander’s base he has very little traction

Perhaps Sirota should pay attention to how fast Warren and Mayor Pete has been gaining

In my view Sanders would have problems with a brokered convention because throughout the years he has wanted to remain outside the Democratic Party, but still receive its benefits. That in my view alone will be an obstacle for him to convince other delegates and SD to jump on his wagon

The other candidates don’t have that problem

Time will tell, but after Super Tuesday it should be obvious who are the viable candidates

There have been many election cycles where people were predicting a brokered convention but the last actual one occurred in 1952.

Plus the fact we do have a clear front runner who will likely have enough to lock it down fairly early in the process.

sanders may not get any delegates in a number of states due to the 15% rule. I doubt that sanders will be around after Super Tuesday. If it comes to a brokered convention, sanders will not be the nominee. If sanders is the nominee, trump will win 45+ states

Finally, consider the third rail of Democratic primary politics: superdelegates, the unpledged party leaders and elected officials who have automatically been seated at the convention in the past. In 2016, Mrs. Clinton won a clear majority of pledged delegates in the primaries and didn’t need these party elders’ help to prevail. But a common misconception among supporters of Bernie Sanders that this collective of “insiders” robbed him of the nomination played right into Mr. Trump’s assertion that Democrats had “rigged” the primaries for Mrs. Clinton.

In 2020, Democrats have sought to tamp down the superdelegate hysteria by barring these leaders and officials — currently 765 of them — from casting votes on the initial ballot at the convention. But here’s the ultimate irony: They can still cast votes on successive ballots, so they could be more influential than ever if the Democratic primary devolves into a floor fight. And the potential for back-room deal-making or heavy-handed Democratic National Committee refereeing could only further fuel grass-roots suspicion that the party’s elites are running the show, setting ablaze the prospect of party unity.
