Wall Street Donors Settle on Three Democrats

June 16, 2019 at 7:21 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“The behind-the-scenes competition for Wall Street money in the 2020 presidential race is reaching a fevered peak this week as no less than nine Democrats are holding New York fund-raisers in a span of nine days, racing ahead of a June 30 filing deadline when they must disclose their latest financial hauls,” the New York Times reports.

“With millions of dollars on the line, top New York donors are already beginning to pick favorites, and three candidates are generating most of the buzz: former Vice President Joseph Biden, Senator Kamala Harris of California and Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind.”

Celebrating money in politics kind of negates the rhetorical opposition.
I would hope anyone that accepts such support and funding would do it with shame and acknowledging the evil of the necessity.

12. Just read about a study

That showed, since 1979, the top 1% in the US has gained 21 trillion in assets (to a total of 30 trillion). At the same time, the bottom 50% has lost 900 billion in assets, leaving them in the red, collectively (more debt than assets).

And you think we should pick a candidate that Wall St. likes?

I'm sure that trickle-down thingie will start working any day, and everything will be great again.

11. I wonder the extent to which Buttigieg's donors are LGBT

donors tend not to be known for sentiment. If he his doing that well with donors and he isn't getting most of the money from LGBT donors, that speaks to what donors feel is possible in terms of an LGBT candidate winning the White House.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
