BY ZACK BUDRYK - 06/23/19 09:00 AM EDT
President Trump told NBCs Meet the Press in an interview broadcast Sunday that he would prefer to run against former Vice President Joe Biden in 2020.
Trump told host Chuck Todd that he would rather run against Biden than run against Hillary Clinton, who remains a frequent target of Trump even after he defeated her in the 2016 election.
I actually think that Hillary Clinton was a great candidate. She was very smart. She was very tough. She was ruthless and vicious, Trump said. [Bidens] sleepy. She was not sleepy.
Trump has made similar remarks about Biden, who has consistently led the crowded Democratic field, before.

(17,276 posts)there is a Tar Baby in the story, which is why you got a bit confused. Here is an exerpt:
Its not going to be much fun skinning you, said Brer Fox, youre not scared of that. But you are scared of the briar patch.
And with that, Brer Fox yanked Brer Rabbit off the Tar-Baby, and he flung him -KERPLUNK!- right into the briar patch.
Well, there was a flutter where Brer Rabbit landed, then Ooo! Oow! Ouch! he screeched and he squalled. Then after a while, there was only a weak whisper from Brer Rabbit. Brer Fox listened.
I got him! Brer Rabbit is dead! said Brer Fox.
But then he heard a scuffling away at the other end of the briar patch. And low and behold, who does Brer Fox see scrambling out but Brer Rabbit himself, playing a briar bush whistle.
Born and bred in the briar patch, thats me, laughed Brer Rabbit. I told you not to throw me there. In all the world, thats the place I love best!
With a lippity clip, he hopped away.

(16,784 posts)What Trump is really saying, he does not want to have to face Biden. He is totally ignorant of his debate prowess of the issues. How Joe's slickness destroyed Sarah Palin and Paul Ryan with that smile, subtle laugh, aND "Malarkey" comment.
Joe will do that with Trump, who does not tolerate being told "No" or being laughed at to his face.
I also think Kamala Harris would disarm Trump with her prosecutorial style with..."I have never heard anything so asinine in my life, folks, have you?" The look on Trump's face would be priceless. For Trump does not tolerate being contradicted. They know where his Achilles heel is.

Trump's advantage one-on-one against either of them is that he is a natural entertainer.

(11,885 posts)He won't run , and if he did Pence would be gone , and he'd get a family member into the VP slot, but i think it all a act , and he will raise money to pay some of his huge debts with, and then run away from the prosecution from all the corruption he and his family are involved in. I also would not be surprised if the gop are looking at someone else already to replace him. for the 2020 election.

(11,986 posts)I do think HRC is smarter than Biden. And probably does have more "killer instinct" as well (or tough/ruthless as he put it)... part of Biden's appeal, after all, is his amiability.
