That is the reason I keep bringing up the booing of John Lewis by his acolytes on National TV at our last convention. While he sat there grinning like the cat that ate the canary. That is an actual fact that can’t be denied. Well, it has been denied here, but it can be proven with a quick google search.

John Lewis paid more of a price for civil rights than any living American. Too many paid the ultimate price. And Representative Lewis almost did. And his loyalist booed him.

And that is the reason he will get no Delegates from the South. And with no delegates from the south a candidate is cooked.

I've said before that I will never forgive, nor forget, what happened at the convention. It was despicable and those actions were not only allowed but obviously approved.

It is not rehashing of previous actions, it is protecting ourselves from future actions.

Bernie did not promise he would endorse a presumptive Democratic nominee before the actual convention. One can have a problem with the stance Bernie is taking (not being willing to commit at this point to an early endorsement in 2020) but it is in no way the same thing as what Trump did. Sanders is clear that he will back the Democratic nominee once there is an official Democratic nominee.

Now, it is entirely reasonable to say that he should not be held to these *particular* standards because being a US Senator is a very different thing than being a pseudonymous web forum user. That is correct, of course, those are two very different things...

And yet, I *am* tired of him a) bashing Democratic candidates, b) fighting the last election, and c) propagating right-wing talking points, amongst other things.

When you have 20 loyal democrats criticizing, each other, as they should, but one attacking the party, it puts things in a different light.

Tomorrow will be interesting. I fully expect, and hope Biden totally ignores the attacks sure to come and spells out what he wants for America.

Democratic Voters are not like republican voters. If one of our candidates stays out of the mud and spells out his or her vision for America while total ignoring or even laughing at the attacks it will gain support.

Americans are fed up with wallowing in the mud. We want hope.

Bernie attracts passionate supporters. He is a force and center of the inevitable direction we must move to survive as a democracy. He attracts passionate supporters, and his opponents amplify that to paint Bernie as reckless.

Sometimes being a revolutionary, for young people, means breaking EVERY rule, not just the appropriate ones. It sure did for me before but I'm more select now. I survived being reckless. Not because I was superior, but because I was lucky. Thank goodness for passionate, often younger, liberal supporters.

So the fringes of movements sometimes contain rude people. That, in itself, is a very partisan statement used to attack a candidate's calm-under-fire vulnerability. But it also doesn't mean he's the best qualified candidate as we interview a replacement for the incompetent manager Donald Trump.

Bernie signed the indivisible pleadge to support the nominee and he hasn't reneged on that. The reason he didn't outright say he will support the nominee after the last state votes is because there could be a contested convention if no nominee secures enough delegates on the first ballot.

As far as I'm concerned, he has used the Democratic party as his mule. It's a tool. A tool he can discard when it suits his fancy or he's in fit of pique. I absolutely have zero trust that he and his Sarandon-type "supporters" won't huff off in a hissy if/when he doesn't win the nomination. He needs to find another mule to ride or start his own damn support system. He and the other jettisoned and failed candidates in 2016, along with the Russians, are responsible for where we are today.

121. Sanders has repeatedly said he would campaign for the nominee regardless of who wins
Thu Jun 27, 2019, 09:43 AM
Jun 2019

Bernie has been made into the scapegoat for 2016 when he campaigned all across the country for Secretary Clinton. He urged all his supporters to vote for Hillary and also made many tv hits saying so. More Hillary voters switched to McCain in 2008 than Bernie voters in 2016. Also James Comey has more to do with her losing than anything Bernie did. He has been campaigning for democrats across the country in 2018 and has been hesitant to criticise any candidate thus far knowing we need to be united to defeat Trump. Sometimes people here seem to be looking for an excuse to let their anger out on him, which I guess is fine as long as you intend on voting for him if he secures the nomination.

Senator Sanders endorsed Secretary Clinton in 2016, campaigned for her across the country and urged his supporters to vote for Hillary. I assume he will do the same if he doesn't secure the nomination again.

His selfish behavior caused a lot of people to stay home or vote third party in 2016. And now he's hired a bunch of Jill Stein promoters to run his campaign.

I'm skeptical.

132. If he wasn't an effective surrogate then Secretary Clinton would've told him to not campaign for her
Thu Jun 27, 2019, 11:13 AM

I didn't find him selfish in the slightest in the last cycle. He worked his tail off to elect Hillary Clinton President of the United States. Less people voted for Trump who were Sanders voters in 2016 than Hillary people who voted for McCain in2008. I know a lot of people seem to blame him for her loss when her campaign was knocking on the wrong doors on their get out the vote strategy. And James Comey torpedoed her campaign with his letter and not acknowledging Trump's FBI investigation.

But if you want to scapegoat Sanders then fine. Get it out of your system now so that if he wins the nomination you'll vote for him in the general.

Bernie just did an interview where they were trying to get him to say negative things about Warren and he would not bite. Then he said he would never attack Biden personally but only on issues.

And after all that he said he would with all his power to help elect the nominee if it was not him. That the most important thing is removing Trump.

137. Bernie Sanders First to Sign Pledge

Jun 2019
https://www.thedailybeast.com/bernie-sanders-first-to-sign-pledge-to-rally-behind-whoever-wins-democratic-primary

National progressive outfit Indivisible on Thursday launched a pledge compelling all 2020 Democratic presidential candidates to rally behind the eventual nominee. Bernie Sanders was the first to sign it, the group revealed.

The “We Are Indivisible” pledge asks for three commitments from him and any other prospective signers, as first reported by BuzzFeed News. First, Indivisible’s pledge requests that candidates “make the primary constructive” by outlining their visions while respecting their opponents.

“I’ll support the ultimate Democratic nominee, whoever it is—period," the pledge also reads. “No Monday morning quarterbacking. No third-party threats. Immediately after there’s a nominee, I’ll endorse.”

And the group also wants a commitment that every candidate will “do the work to beat Trump,” including a promise that “As soon as there is a nominee, I will put myself at the disposal of the campaign.”
